I have been good friends with Hinck since 2001, and he has always been:
1. A wealth of information that he freely and gladly shares
2. A top notch individual that has always been willing to assist
3. A true gentlemen in every sense of the word
I have been blessed to call him my dear friend, and I still have his hand drawn example (on a small note pad) with approximate dimensions of the actual tool used to expand the spin rivets (in 6 places) on 1968 Corvette gas door lids.
For those that do not know, John was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, and had more than one ship shot out from under him.
His service to our nation, to the automotive community, to multiple auto manufacturers (GM and Chrysler), to auto enthusiasts, to the National Corvette Museum, to NCRS, to Vetteheads, and most important, to his family are a true testament to the character and integrity of this quality individual.
Be well my friend, and when that time comes, say hi to Varooom for all of us.
We will all eventually reunite in that big garage that has cars as far and wide as we can imagine, and all of our friends ... telling each other what is wrong with this car or that car.

First and foremost, it would keep John's name and the link at the top of the page where it belongs for several reasons - as a memorial to him, ease of access to the invaluable technical knowledge, and as an introduction to future Forum members who may not be familiar with his work.
Having the link in a stickey would make access to his posts so much easier by eliminating having to go to the search function itself and enter his screen name. And it would honor him as he so richly deserves!

I like when John said if your KOs wheels are coming off then they are installed wrong period .
If installed on correct set of lugs and tight they will be fine

Sad to hear... My mom is in Hospice (this is her 7th month!) and my dad took a turn for the worst last week... So I know what the family is going through.
Prayers for Peace.
How bout renaming the C1/C2 section "The JohnZ C1 & C2 Forum"

Perhaps there is a "middle ground" approach to making John's posts easily accessible. How about a stickey titled 'Link to search of John Hinckley posts", or someting similar. Perhaps it could even be sub catagorized into several subject areas. Even if the sub catagorization is not viable the master link would still be a great value.

By way of example and to kick-start the effort, here are John's last five Corvette-related posts:

While I never met JohnZ in person, I've had many gleanings of his writings and help he has posted.
Thank you JohnZ!
Prayers for him and his family have been, are and will be sent.
Thankfully, as we learn through our next holiday -- Christmas -- physical death is not the end.
It's merely putting aside our worn out parts for much better ones (2 Corinthians 5:1-10). Kinda like keeping the old cars we cherish running, but much, much better.
As Linus puts it:
Hope I get to meet you in person on the other side.

While I'm fairly new to the corvette world (2011), I have never read a more masterpiece of technological work than his timing and steering articles.
I felt like I was in a GM class room each time a read them.
I'm sad and sorry I never got to meet this great man.
My heart filled prayers to his family at this untimely misfortune.
His passing is heavy on our hearts at the forum.
God needs a GM tech in heaven so its likely you were his choice.
Prayers from my family to yours.

I was lucky enough to meet John once at Carlisle a few years ago, but most recently enough to have already seen his handles and numerous posts offering advice on nearly EVERY car forum I'd poke my head into on the internet.
I felt like I was meeting a rock star or a celebrity!
Thank you John and again, prayers sent.

I was also lucky enough to meet John in person (@ the Conner Avenue Viper Plant in the summer of '96) and have had numerous "IM" conversations with him over the years. He has been a true inspiration and a great "Ambassador" for the industry and the hobby! Thanks John!

Haven't been to the C2 section of the forum in a long while to post. Occasionally I get a email to a thread I posted in years ago that someone recently posted to. Something made me come to this forum this morning. Now I know why. So sorry to hear the bad news. John has helped me plenty of times over the years since I became a member during the early 2000's. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. John was and is the real deal with the knowledge to back it all up. I saw it for myself so many times like the rest of the members in this section of the forum. God Bless John Z. He certainly deserves it for the patience he showed with all of us when he offered us the help we needed.

It isn't every day we take the oppotunity to say thank you to someone who means a lot to so many people. As sad as this situation is, and as difficult as it must be for John, his family and close friends, hopefully he will find some comfort in knowing how much he is appreciated and how greatly he will be missed by many thousands.
The handsome young man on the right is JohnZ from 11 years ago.
Extremely knowledgeable, willing to share, and slow to anger. And he had the great honour of working directly with Zora.
John Hinckley, you are a treasure. Stick around a bit longer, John. We need you.

Hi Marshal,
Here's my favorite piece of John's work.
Perhaps you can enjoy and be informed by it too!
I think of him often throughout the day now.

I've talked to John at a couple of the NCRS Winter Meets and he can really keep you captivated.
I'm very saddened to hear about his condition and wish him Godspeed and comfort, and thoughts to his family as well.

God Bless John and his family.
Is there anyway to assembly the articles that were authored for Corvette Enthusiast, NCRS, etc, and have them linked back here.
The incredible knowledge that he shared across those platforms is invaluable to those of us that were not there to witness things firsthand...
Like I said in an earlier post, I saved everything from Corvette Enthusiast that he wrote.
Heart Thought Prayers,
Randy

I have sent a link for this thread to John's granddaughter
. Small world story....about 6 months after she started working for me, she says..'my grandpa is in some hall thing in Kentucky, do you know about it?' After she told me his name, I surprised her by saying that in the Corvette and Viper worlds, her grandpa is a really big deal....
I am sure the family will find comfort in your 400+ kind thoughts about John.
