Sounds like a great project! Corvetteworx is willing to supply all the parts you need at cost. I will also try to make some donations in the used parts. I don't have much time to post right now but i do want to mention that keeping the right front end with the chrome bumpers is very critical in terms of value. I can supply you a correct preassembled front end for the car for around $2100.00. That would be money well spent. Please call us if you need any questions answered.
>>>>>>>>I will be honest, I have not read the entire thread, just bits and pieces. Let me ask you this, What is the course objective for your class? <<<<<<<<
BLVette,
Class objective is to teach the basics of mechanical repair, body and paint, and use the project to raise funds for the school and help buy a paint booth for the auto shop.
Dr.G- Thanks for offering. I How can we get it here? I know that engine shops send motors for about $100 or so all the time. But maybe they have a good freighter they use consistently to keep the price low. We are certainly open to helping with shipping costs.
Corvetteworx,
How gracious of you to offer that. Do you have a catalog? I know we will be needing plenty of parts for this, as we are going to go frame-off.
I'll get some more pics up of the bad motor. The wrecked front-end went into the dumpster yesterday, but I may still have a pic from earlier. Basically it was a pile of red broken pieces of fiberglass.

Rule #1 about repairing/restoring a Vette...NEVER throw anything away till it's completely done.Go back to the dumpster and get all those red pieces of fiberglass back out. You never know what little part you may need to retrieve or check to see how it originally went where, not to mention you might need a piece of fiberglass to form a patch or something. You wouldn't believe how many old wrecked vette parts I've use to build my customs over the years!
PM or email me your address so i can send you out a catalog. We are a dealer for all the manufactures. There is nothing that i can't get you dealer cost on. Well, except for al knoch interiors. We no longer represent them.
I am having a difficult time finding someone to ship a motor, do you have any suggestions? UPS wont ship anything over 150lbs. I would be willing to take it part of the way, but for time reasons I cant take a trip all the way to OK. BTW, back in the 80's I spent some time in your state, 2yrs at Ft.Sill. I hope we can work this out. If anyone has any ideas on shipping a short block from Detroit to Oaklahoma, please let me know.
Thanks, Dave
I use forward air all the time to ship heavy items. You are looking at about $75.00. You will need to put it on a crate and build walls around it. If you are near me i may be able to bring the tractor buy to help load it for you. Call me.
thanks for the link Tex, I contacted them today, they are very helpful and I am planning on using them. Corvetteworx, thanks for the offer, I think I can get it loaded on my truck, where in Ferndale are you located and do you have a retail store?
Don't forget about the big Corvette show and National Corvette Museum I told you about in Wichita Falls, Texas Sept 16 & 17. It's only about 2 hours South of you.
I don't know about that, but I can tell you that 90 percent of the stuff happens and the most cars will be there on Saturday. Things won't really crank up on Friday till after 3pm.
If the school has a bus, seriously you might consider bringing the kids down on a field trip on the Saturday. I know fuel can be expensive, but if you want to load the kids in a bus, I'll chip in $50 towards your fuel bill. If you've got a bus that will get 10 miles per gallon, 50 bucks would more than cover half the cost on the fuel.
I guess we'll have to pass on that. We are a Seventh day Adventist school and we observe Sabbath from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. Maybe there can be one on a Thursday or Sunday. Thanks for offering to help pay for fuel though. That is very generous.
God bless

Thanks for the photos you posted, but don't stop with these. You will find we are a hungry bunch when it comes to photos...love them. We really DO want to follow along in photo since we all can't be there.
How about that offer to pay for your gas? Wasn't that great. We told you there were a lot of great people on this site!
May God continue to bless this project and your students. Glenn

This early in the year, kids must be reminded at least 127,000,000,000 times to wear them. It also does not help that the instructor forgets sometimes as well. And don't even get me started on the nitrile gloves.
Mr. Blue,
Yes these are good folk, and its a blessing to be on the boards. One guy,Daren, who's board handle escapes, is sending down a front clip for the car this weekend.
We need to move the 'vette out of the wood shop and into the auto shop before we can really get into some serious restoring. We simply did not have space for it when it arrived. I hope nobody thought our auto shop was that messy! Once we get the farm's Ford truck and Case tractor fixed, we can swap places and get the body off the frame.

Hey Fred, I am even more impressed with how much you guys have accomplished within the tight guidlines and budgets of a faith based school. Just when I'm about to give up on this new generation, along comes a group of good kids to remind me that GOD is indeed Lord of all. Keep up the good work...and keep the photos posted!
Thanks, Glenn. I'll keep posting our progress as we go. Right now we are still waiting for the front end, which has run into shipping problems a couple of times now.I hope iit works out. If not, we'll have to get one somehow. The engine, I think, is on its way.Two thumbs up for the donor.
Thanks for your support. We are also putting in our paint booth this week, and next. I can't believe we got one for $1000. Jehove Jireh. (the Lord provides).
