Alexarz, if you are so set in titanium rotors being an excellent addition to your car then get them. You come in with a close minded view and didn't want to see anyone elses opinion. There is also no reason to downgrade someone just because you think they aren't at the same level as you, which you obviously haven't been around the forum long enough to realize that there are numerous knowledgable people here. Done with that.
It might help if you told us what your finals plans are for the car. Track only, occassional driver, grocery getter, show car, etc. Then you can weigh how effective your mods are going to be. If it were me I would go with a cheap replacable rotor like the C5 track guys are using cause they will wear out very quickly with a few track events.
I have 17" W-rated AA tires (Bridgestone Potenza RE-750) and I can lock up all four.... VBP O-ring calipers, DOT 5, Hawk HP-Plus pads. Oh yeah, they're not assisted either.
out at the road racing track every lap at the end of the main straight I stomp on the brakes as late as I can watching the braking markers. I notice that not at the first hit of the brakes, but after the car is slowing down. Like passing through 120 mph is when I hear or sense one or both rear tires locking up. You glance up at the rear mirror and you see a blue haze and one or two long black marks out behind you. You have to ease up.
In the past with short low profile front tires I almost packed the Vette in a few times with the late braking idea and then have the front tires lockup during hard braking and all the steering goes away. then your just plowing striaght of the road instead of making the turn. The fix was to change the front tire diameter (27 inch now) it made my front brakes less effective.
so I never have front brake lockup. The rears lock and then I have to ease of. I use carbon metalic pads and I get 2 - 3 sets of pads before the rotors are gone
When I created this thread, I had no idea that I would be preserving my place in the annals of this forum's history as the most productive and beloved newbie of all time. Little did I know that I would be smothered by such warm sentiment and revered as the genius that I am. I am touched by the fact that I have received such attention and admiration. To the naked eye it might appear that the old coots have attacked me. In reality they are threatened, frightened and respectful of my ungodly knowledge and purchasing ability (not to mention my grotesquely overwhelming manhood). Oh, I could go on and on of my triumphs in life but this one, among you fine people, rates right up there for me. It is so obvious that I have been recognized as the alpha male, in short order, and I appreciate it. It is true that I have mounted some of the finest females the world has to offer, yet this is every bit as satisfying as some of those memorable experiences. Thank you, beloved fans of mine, for I am touched by your response to my post. And to think that this milestone of modern literature began as a simple question about titanium!
Oh the glory! 7 pages, 1400 views and counting..............this all brings a tear to my eye.
You know Dep when I first noticed your posts on the forum I suspected you were a nut. Later over time and observing your posts more it became more obvious that you were a nut. Now after all of this I am positive you are a NUT lol.
Don't give up so easily, big_G! You gain points for your outlandish tilt nose and race stripes. I estimate that all you would need at this point, to be seriously considered is to defend your beloved leader as he is being ruthlessly attacked by the common folk. There is still hope for you.
yellow73sb, your car looks very nice, by the way.
The blue one is my dads. yellow is mine. The yellow is red73's that i chopped and and made it yellow. right now I just have stock wheels on it. i do have chrome side pipes though and my car will be that low.Hes no a bad guy after all.:o

yellow73sb, I admire lots of cars that I have seen here. Yours is particularly nice. I love the yellow, illuminating off of the wheels that you chose. Very nice! There is a beauty in a C3 that is all it's own, very unique. Yours is one of the C3's that glorifies this fact.
I am not a jealous person at all. If someone has a hot car, I will be the first to acknowledge it. In my opinion, a C3 vette is one of the most beautiful cars ever designed. Like a magnificently beautiful woman, it portrays amazing beauty from all angles. Does a C5 or C6? I think not.
Empatho, I am glad that someone here has a sense of humor. Thanks for the response!

My friend...this is small potatoes compared to what I have accomplished. What you need to do is start a thread about how the 1969 Z-28 302 motor is the ultimate smallblock Chevy engine and all these bogus stroker, Roadrunner-sized (383) and Ford-sized (406) engines are insulting to the high revving capability of the TRUE MOUSE MOTOR.
BTW...check out how many complaints keep popping up about that 383 engine. That may be the Corvair of Chevy engines
I heard Ralph Nader is going to write a book about the problems they have with them
Dep, as one of my most avid admirers, it is obvious that you are a man of good taste. What 383 engine are you referring to?
Shakerattleroll, it is nearly sinful what Chevrolet has done to the corvette, style wise. On one hand I am proud that they are performing so well, particularly the Z06. On the other hand they look like hell compared to C3's. I have read numerous complaints in magazines in reference to the rear of the C5 and what did Chevy do? If anything, they made it even more cumbersome on the C6!! What are they thinking? Are they that out of touch? The car should look good from all angles, not just from the front, not just from behind. The profile is awful, while it is breath taking on a C3.
Turtle man, your calculations are incorrect but maybe you are right that I should try the front rotors first. The damage is $1000 per wheel so it will cost $2000 for the front rotors (a son of a bitching deal if there ever was one). Turtle man, I sense some hostility in your tone. Have you given my fan club much thought? If not, you might want to. There are many benefits including glorious tales of male conquest unfit for the feeble hearted. I see now that I am your hero and these titanium rotors seem to have become synonymous with my newfound fame. I don't think I have a choice at this point. I must purchase these rotors or my legend could be affected in the future at this beloved site. I will forge bravely forward into the unknown as my hords of fans await my triumphant return. I will stomp these rotors with all of the strength that my superfluous athleticism will allow, in hopes of breaking all current braking records known to mankind. I feel the overwhelming admiration of my many fans here and I will do my best not to disappoint them. I gracefully and humbly accept your nomination as your leader, C3 forumians! Thank you! Thank you!
umm...ok
why whould you spend 4000 to save 33 pounds. why not get a aluminum block or get a new frame or upgarde to 6 piston calipers that whould be a lot smarter.
go on the Subway diet. you can lose 33 pounds for a lot less money.
