This thread just reminded me I haven't bought my wife anything nice in a while, so a dozen Red Roses on the way home since she does put up with me. Plus I will be one up on her the next time I need another expensive part for the Vette.

CONGRATULATIONS on the 40

My wife and I just celebrated 31 yrs. Good woman .... I have a '89 & '72vette and she has given me permission to buy a 3rd, but it has to be around a 2000 model & automatic. She likes the road trips and the car shows.

Doesn't work at my house. I grow long stem red roses so the house has them from June until October.
Going to be 38 years for me next month.

Congratulations and happy anniversary

My wife and I were married for 22 years when she passed away. She never really liked the Vette and always thought of it as a 'guy thing'. I have since found someone to spend this last part of my life together with and she is very much into the car and the hobby. She and her late husband ran a body shop for years and has been working on stripping and priming my '72.

What a great time you two have had through the years sharing the hobby together . We look forward to the future and getting involved in the hobby together.

Again, Congratulations

You are a lucky man. Any woman that will climb into a C3 in this part of the country during this time of the year has got to be special!

Well...she does better in the 78...we were on a run last Sunday with Temecula vettes in the 69.....(we live in El Cajon)...she was tuckered out after that one...about 120 miles round trip, plus another 60 or so on the run while there...69 is louder, much stiffer suspension,no A/C...
But if air temps hit 90+.she stays home on her hobby..sewing quilts,etc..

Your wife is cool. I remember when she gave you the yarn when we were posting about aerodynamics. I'm on the sixth year of my second try. What's your number one secret for success?

Respect her independence/interests is one and support that....another is spend time alone together as much as practical..communication is important..we would take the kids on vacation just for them..(week)..then go on one ourselves...we have many friends..but we could always go do something alone and have fun away from the crowd..
When I retired almost 5 years ago,she would not quit her job...said she didn't think she could stand me seven days a week.. She finally retired two years ago...it had to be on her terms..

When I met my Wife Carolyn in '82 I had a '77 smokey and the bandit Trans Am complete with screaming chicken on the hood and Hurst Hatch T-Tops and she had a '79 Visa card that was maxxed out big time! She doesnt understand my vette at all or why I want it. She said we need a new bathroom and you wanna spend how much on a car youre only going to drive 1500 miles a year? She kept saying mid life crisis and I kept telling her that I owned T/A's, Z28s, a 280ZX , a 73 Cuda etc and if we didnt have kids I would still be driving a sports car of some sort. Thats not a mid life crisis. It was like talking to a wall. I even had her name pinstriped on the pass side door like I did back in the day but no use. She's never even driven the vette although she doesnt mind riding in it provided the tops are on.

Rich, Happy Anniversary! Looks as though you have some really great memories from your road trips. I also, am fortunate to have a wife that supprts my Corvette hobby. We have been married 31 years and we took the 69 on our honeymoon from Ohio to Florida. We just recently added another Vette (C5) that we can use on road trips.
