I also have one coming up in mid Oct. so I better start thinking what to do It will be hard for me to top xmas a couple of years ago though.
It all started when she tells me about her girlfriends husband selling his C5 and he wants me to help him sell it. And, by the way she jokingly asks me why I don't get it for her...since it is an automatic and "you have 3 in the garage".. all manual..yeah right
I can't believe we pulled it off but, I bought the 2000 C5 as a Christmas present for her and it was a complete suprise. I went out and found a small model that was a spittin image of the car. We wrapped it up with a set of the keys in the small trunk. ( Couldn't find one of those big ribbon bow's like in the old Lexas comercial).
She unwrapped the present looking at it like WTF!......What did you get me this for?
We (my son and daughter) told her to look in the little trunk. When she saw the keys she began to realize what was coming down It was like she was a kid on christmas morning....tears and everything. You would have thought I gave her a diamond.
Now she wants us to drive it to all the Corvette events instead of bringing Project Ramjet (my 70 BB C3) .....Hard for this hard core C3er to swallow.
Congratulations you old fart.
Road trips with Vette and the wife are a great thing. We drove around Lake Superior in my 75 for our 10th anniversary which was a lot of fun. We didn't make the trip out west this summer like I planned. Kids and work get in the way sometimes. I've got almost 30 years to catch up to you though.
Anyway, congrats and many more fellow road trip warrior.
Rich, Happy Anniversary! Looks as though you have some really great memories from your road trips. I also, am fortunate to have a wife that supprts my Corvette hobby. We have been married 31 years and we took the 69 on our honeymoon from Ohio to Florida. We just recently added another Vette (C5) that we can use on road trips.
In preparation for the 7,000 mile cross country trip,I started about four months prior.Vette had 96,000 miles at that point..new u-joints,rad,hoses,control valve, brakes, tires, just about anything suspect...even did a cumulative 1,000 mile shakedown after all that.Told my wife,in the event of fire, she was to grab the extinguisher as I popped hood,etc..so we left and on the first day we drove 160 miles and 17 miles east of Yuma,AZ,smoke starts pouring out of the hood, and left a huge trail behind us...doing about 70 mph..then I hear the door latch on passenger side, and she is about to make her escape...stopped the vette, popped hood, and she is standing there with her purse..!! Lucky it was just a pressure hose on the power steering..cut the belt to the P/S pump, and drove to Alburquerque,NM for repairs...after that, the rest of the trip was ok..no issues...(and I did not check control valve adjustment when I installed it...) Live and learn...and don't assign fire duty to your wife...
Congratulations you old fart.

She's never even driven the vette although she doesnt mind riding in it provided the tops are on.
On our first road trip to Oregon,we were running tops off..in fact,I had her on "sky watch" for the CHP plane they had north of San Francisco....that was the last time she allowed me to run with the tops off... Today,I get the subtle reminder: "SLOW THIS THING DOWN"... (And I do,BTW).
I tell my friends I get 8 mpg by myself, and 10 mpg when she is along for the ride...
Pat and I just had our 37th in August. We met in 1967, and were married in 1969. I had my 63 back then (still have it), SO, my wife and I have always had Corvettes.
The 69 BB is her car, titled in her name.
She's Top Flighted the car several times, and won a NCRS Founders Award with the car a few years ago. She's also a NCRS Master Level judge.
We like to drive 'em, and go to a lot of NCCC and NCRS affairs together.
She even scrounges for parts at Corvette Carlisle and Bloomington.
I love seeing marriages make it. I am getting married next week and when I say "I do", I too will never divorce.
One of the reasons that she loves me is my love for cars....and wants to work on them with me!! She's got GM blood flowing in her veins as her dad worked at GM in Michigan. When she was young she thought that go-jo was his cologne...LOL.
Thanks Dwayne...good to hear from you...our members are still buzzing about the ACE/COTV Mystery Run last April with you guys in Yuma...we seen the video/pics on your site...my shifter issue was just a missing spring clip...took about 20 miinutes to fix...I've since replaced all clips/washers..how did the duct tape hold up ??
