Ok to be yourself & be freaky if you want it's your choice as i'm not for or against it, but be smart enough to know, where & when, or be prepaired to pay the piper !!!

That's why I got mine where I did. I deal with the public and business men and women every day. Some of them that you see are not very professional looking.

I was drunk many times in the Corps and many more times since I've been out. I did get one while in, not drunk. I never even considered getting a tattoo while being drunk, thats stupid. I've gotten A WHOLE LOT MORE since I've gotten out, and still not drunk, not even close to wanting to drink before getting work done.

If you were unsure if you wanted something that is going to stay with you forever then going in a tattoo studio while being drunk wasn't very bright, luckily you didn't do anything you regretted.

I work for a major airline, a crew chief mechanic. Being professional has nothing to do with the color of my skin.

If I choose to cover up I merely wear long sleeve shirts. I have no neck tats or hand tats, but thats my thing. I do not judge anyone by the way they look, be it tattoos, piercings or hair or whatever.

I like to get to know someone for who they are, what kind of integrity they have, then judge them by that standard, but hey, thats me.

Tattoo shops here will not tattoo anyone who's intoxicated, or under 18.

I'm sure if you live to be 70 your faded tat will be low on your list of concerns, .

Stay fit, stay active, use sunscreen, your tattoo will be fine. If your snake looks like crap on your arm when you're in your 70's then Im sure your arm will look like crap, without the snake, when you're in your 70's anyhow....the gym is your friend.

Thats the way all reputable studios are. I know many artists and none of them would even consider tattooing anyone drunk, high, whatever.

Times are different today and tattoos are WAY more accepted today then it was in the day of some of the more senior posters here.

I am ALMOST suprised by the reactions to tattoos by some here...ALMOST.

Tattoos can be gone over again, or freshened, and inks today can last a lot longer. Not only that, tattoo removal techniques are more fine tuned, and now leave much less of a scar.

Exactly!!

I'm saying I judge by whats on the inside more than the outside. I've met some real snakes in the grass, real smooth looking, slick, real corporate, ladder climbers. They wound up being real POS, but hey, they looked good, and most got what was coming to them. Their real personalities came out and that was it.

I've met others who some in mainstream America would think negatively about, but they would up being real standup, hard working, people I would share a fox hole with.

I would've missed out on them if I discounted them because they may have had tattoos, or were ugly, etc.

You sure you were in the Corps...never met a Marine that called a "fighting hole" a "fox hole"...foxes hide in holes, Marines don't hide - we fight! By your screen name you must have been a winger .

FWIW I was being light hearted when I said I was never drunk enough to get a tat - maybe I should have said something like "common sense got the best of me" cause there are certainly no regrets here.

I am quite sure I am a Marine, however I spent zero time in a foxhole, fighting hole, or whatever you grunts called it. Never spent much time talking to grunts, so thats why I called it a foxhole.

Good for you not getting any art on your body, its not for everyone. All I'm saying is I would expect no one to judge me because of my tattoos, nor would I judge them by their lack of tattoos.

to the grunts, god bless them and their love of "fighting holes"...because while they were in their holes us Airwingers were busy in holes that were a LOT more fun, .

I've been following this for a couple days now,and would like to stay silent,but......................jetdoc,i like what you said, and congrats on the pretty new addition to the family!
I can appreciate the first impression thing,but I'm covered in tattoos on both arms,my sides,my back piece,a thigh tat,a teardrop,and a diamomnd above/under my eye,and I tattooed off,and on since 1989.I've also,been to prison.
I have a business, and most the customers are wealthy people.Do the flip alittle when they first meet me?You bet ya!But once the look beyond, then they don't even notice the ink.I have a college education, graduated from a auto body voc.school top of the class, and have excellant phone skills.I go to the swap meets, and I'm the new kid on the block, the new kid that these rich uptight guys call to locate all their parts, and that is always parting cars.
REAL PEOPLE look inside, and anyone who can't see beyond the ink,I don't want around me.I deal w/these people also, and I really don't care what,or HOW they feel about me,as long as they don't disrespect me,but my money still spends, and they sure don't turn those hundred dollar bills down,ya know???????
I made alot more money slinging ink, than restoring muscle cars/parting cars, but I don't like to do art on demand. The same reason I don't airbrush all the time.Cars are theraphy.
When I'm 70,who really cares?Tattoos are more acceptable today.Look beyond.
427SIXX,we are CHRISTIANS,my wife, and I.My wife has enough letters behind her title that i can fill a whole page. She has a small symbol on her ankle that the followers of Christ drew in the sand to allow other followers to know that they were also, cause they were being pursecuted. Is that a "**** stamp",too?I read your stuff all the time, and that pretty azz car sure doesn't make you any less miserable.I'll pray for ya!Peace to all,and everyone IS intitled to there own beliefs, and views.Kevin/vettesbydesign
Anyone from this forum wants a design drawn up,or you are coming to central Illinois...............give me a holler.I got'cha covered on the ink!

OMG.............do feel better you got that all off your chest.........?

I DIDN'T EVER ONCE SAY I DON'T LIKE PEOPLE WITH TATTOOS

I SAID I DON'T LIKE TATTOOS, does'nt mean i would'nt be your friend, hang out, or treat you any differently. I have many friends, bikers, bandies, & military buddies covered in them.

I'm far from miserable, don't know what gave you that idea, but if your ever On Long Island look me up, i'd be happy to have a beer with ya !!

Thanks Kevin, appreciate the comp on the vette. It will be here soon, but not soon enough. A lot of trucks are tied up with Barrett Jackson.

I'm glad to see Im not the only one here with a "few" tattoos. I am with you brother on your post. I know a few guys who have been to prision, tats, long hair, etc. I would trust them in a heartbeat over some others with the more mainstream look.

Again, its whats on the inside. I think the "first impression" thing was something that the good old boy network used. Im not discounting first impressions totally, there is a small place for it, but its gets much deeper than first impressions. Its the look in the eyes, its what the person is made of on the inside.

That said I know my art work isn't corvette themed but I will post a few regardless. These are not all, just a few, plus I have a chest piece thats in progress. I have my kids portraits on my back, a beautiful job. I read where a few said getting a tat on your back isn't good as you can't see it. I see mine all the time, a mirror, shirt off, its all good.

BTW, the pics were taken this past summer by my youngest daughter so to me they look a bit blurry, in real life they are clear and crisp. I take total care of my work, lotion, sunscreen.

I don't have one and I think 427sixpack was tring to be funny when he put his foot into his mouth.
