From: GA "When I grow up, I'm gonna get a Trans Am and run from the cops". Direct quote from my 4yo son.
While the whole experience was probably nerve wracking for you, you did the right thing. That will be a memory that bears the "priceless" tag for your son.
He is less likely to drive crazy with his girlfriend in the car and going to the homecoming than if you just gave it to him to go joy riding with one of his buds. This is a lasting memory for both of them and will probably get him into the hobby too. Your ok Dad.
Not much chance of hanky-panky going on inside a cramped C3 cockpit with the console and shifter in the way. But there is that broad hood...I'd be checking for any suspicious hand prints or cheek prints.

Take it from ample experience (unless you are 250lbs plus, or taller than 6'). There is plenty room for hanky panky in a Vette!!!!
I have not so fond memories of taking dates to proms and dances in our family car wishing that I had a parent like you that had a cool car and trusted me to drive it. Funny how they never went out with me twice.
Anyway, let me tell you from experience...you did good, and your kid will remember that for a lifetime!
My hat is off to you. I would have never been able to do it.
My collector insurance also would not have allowed it, I don't believe. That will be a memory for a lifetime.

Just make sure he got a NICE hotel room instead of a seedy one. Makes all the difference.
I wonder if you would be typing this if that was your daughter.
Port Clinton, eh? My little sis lives there and my wife and I visited last weekend. I didn't see your car around town though. Kudos to you, if I had a kid and he turned out at all like me, I don't think I'd let him drive any of my cars.
If I still have my Vette in 10 years when my son's time comes, he will get the chance..
1.) If he is responsible.
2.) Along with a long list of what NOT to do with the Vette (and the young lady of course!!)
3.) Then I will worry the whole night - about the kids, not the Vette!
4.) Pray they all come back in one piece!
me too! i dont know if i can take this 19 bull crap anymore!
the only think better (my dad said) is if he was driving away in his own vette, (i did for prom!) but thinkgs will be fine

We were on the POOR side growing up and I didnt even get a car till after college. Piece of crap 86 Jetta(graduated 97)
Anyway- I now am in a better situation and of course want my kids to have what I would have liked to have, but definately need to have them appreciate it!
And as far as the hanky panky part goes, I think they need to come up with some type of CORVETTE SUTRA BOOK for favorable positions as I am having a little difficulty seeing it happening in my 72.
Barely enough room for me on the driver side, Maybe both in the passenger seat is DOABLE!
