Wife said if I sell both of my C3 vettes (which are currently both apart in the garage) I can get a C6. Both are 1980 4 speed matching numbers silver/black and white/doeskin. I have to do work to both before they would be ready to sell. The white one, selling this one is a tough decision, is my main project with tons of goodies going into it like a 383 stroker w/TPI about 450-500hp, stainless steel sidepipes, VBP top-of-the-line suspension, etc. I don't even know how much I'd ask for that one. The silver one was hit in the front driver side (not real bad), fiberglass damage to the nose and front tire took the shot and I have almost all the parts to fix it including a new "stock looking" door to door Eckler nose. I was planning on just selling the silver vette, but now I'm tempted to get them together and go for a C6. Any thoughts about it?
I recently got a C5 and love it. I kept the C3 and wife kept her C4. This is where we see your experience in the art of negotiations. Both are in need of repair and not worth much in pieces. Going to take a long time to get both back together. Tell her you'll fix and sell one for the C6. The other is a hobby and you'll rebuild it and then decide how you feel about selling it.
If she insists that you have to get rid of both, I'd do it. C6 is a very nice comfortable ride. An 80 is not that rare and you can get another one later.
It's a buyer's market, don't expect them to bring much right now. If you work on finishing them over say the next two years, you'll have cars you can enjoy and the market should be better. On the other hand, modded cars are always a crapshoot. Tough call.
Well, we also have her 68' Mustang Coupe, but she would never part with that. It was her first car and it's the only car she ever owned in her name. I'm leaning towards the C6. Too many cars to work on and it would be nice to have something that I can enjoy more often. Since I bought it in 2000, my white Vette has been registered as a collectors car, only allowing 2500 miles a year (no state inspection needed ).
I love my 72 C3 and my 08 C6. Trust me the 08 C6 is about as much of an animal any vette ever was. The 436HP from factory coupled with the lines of the C6 really bring back the looks and lines of a C3.
You guys are nuts, why the heck would you want a C5 or C6 over a like-new C3 that performs just as well? If you don't want to finish the project you have, you could still sell them off and buy a finished C3 that already has the HP you're looking for for far less than a C6. And they're way better looking.

that's what you should propose i mean.... i don't see people honking at c6's to give the driver a thumb's up, or wanting to take a picture of the car. that happens ALL THE TIME in a nice c3. are you willing to give that up? if so.... well, c6's are pretty nice looking. that is, of course, until the c7 comes along and all you 've got is an "old" vette... not old enough to be a classic but old enought to be out of date.
