What does this dash lever do?
Cleaning the interior of my new-to-me '71 today, I noticed a lever right above the "Seatbelt" light on the upper-left of my center gauge-stack.
The owner's manual doesn't mention this lever, though it covers the operation of every other control.
It slides backwards and locks into position, and seems to slide in a gate, so that I have to move it to the right a bit before it will slide toward me.
Can somebody tell me what it does? You can see it in the upper-left of this picture:

Okay. It kills the tail lights at night when the local fuzz has you in pursuit. Kicks in Stealth mode at the same time.

It's the eject button for the rear seats. Looks like somebody already used it on your car. That proves that it worked.

In addition to everything that's been mentioned, you can also activate the dash mounted flip up scuba masks, allowing you to drive underwater - by pushing up while drawing the lever rearward.

Also, if you twist the lever 90°, then pull forward, it will activate the two one time use Rocket motors behind the inner rear tail lamps (there round for a reason).

Which begs the question, why would the interior designer who worked on the center console think that warm air would not be necessary from that location?

It won't work without the Turboflam-emulator. Check your option sheet to see if one was installed.
