You got one sweet ride my friend. Take her to the track?
Thank you samh, your car is almost like mine, great minds think alike
I dont go to the track anymore, besides my rear isnt strong enough to handle the engine,i have been through 2 and this is the third one in it.Later when and if the economy gets better i hope to up grade the rear, and put a mcleod 5 speed trans coming out soon.
Drive mine 4 or 5 times a week, as long as it is not raining.
I agree with this. Drive my C3 two or three days a week. Mine leaks so I try not to drive it if I know it is going to rain. The rest of the time I drive my 2008.
Mine's out of commission right now waiting for new calipers, but I did see a mid-late 70's vette yesterday while I was getting gas. It's painted in various shades of brown, gray, and black primer with the quietest side pipes I have ever seen. Yeah it's a project but I'm sure he's getting as much enjoyment out of it as anyone else on this board.
Saw a '70 convertible on I-4 Friday morning heading westbound around 7AM. It was maroon with a blue hardtop. Also saw a gold '80-'82 at the corner of 436 and 434 yesterday around 2PM.
I drove it as much as I could last year. (1500 miles) I plan to double that this year.
I do still see a few C3's out and about, but most are 74's and up, or newer C5, C6's. There is one guy with a 70 that I see driving through the parking lot where I stop for steaks on Fridays.
Every corvette driver I saw stretched out an arm in an enthusiatic wave when I drove by in my '73 last summer.
Hey Batts! I drove my c-1, c-3, and will this c-4 when a certain individual we both know does the right thing. I, like you, see no value in owning something you can't enjoy. If you can drive it and not worry about it then you have the battle won. You want sound investment, buy gold ingits, give a sh*t whether it's a c-1, 2, 3, 4, or whatever. If you're too scared to drive it where's the joy of having it. I'll never undestand the ability to just be satisfied with showin' and polishin' it just for braggin' rights.
I did not drive ours at all the last 1 1/2 years- it was in a restoration shop- picked it up Friday and have driven it over 400 miles since-Figure to drive it maybe 2500 miles per year- would like to run Route 66 one of these years-
The week end weather was great, took the vette out on both days for a great run, still didnt see any other vettes on the road, only a Mustang and a Holden Torana!!!
I have a 80, and it is in pretty darn good shape. And Yes it is my DD. Drive it to work everyday. Drive it everywhere I go. I bought this Vette because I love Vettes and C3's and have wanted one for many many years. I bought it to drive, not to sit in a garage, Not to just take out on perfect days. But to drive it and enjoy.
The engine and Trans were rebuilt approx 10K miles ago, and I just had the whole rear end rebuilt Last week. Interior was replaced (with all orig Color) approx 3 years ago. Now I just have to save up for the New Paint Job.
I have been driving mine all the time, put 5k miles on it in 4 months, i have been driving it in the rain, in the snow, in the sun, went through france with it by -8C and no heating!
I know i shouldnt drive it in those conditions, but i just got it and i cant help it, i need to drive it!
I agree with this. Drive my C3 two or three days a week. Mine leaks so I try not to drive it if I know it is going to rain. The rest of the time I drive my 2008.
We've got just about the same Corvettes- we have a 1972 Targa Blue and a 2009 Atomic Orange-
