I occasionally see a few 70/71's running around this part of Maryland during the mid-week time frame so I assume they are being taking to and from work.
As for me, I use to drive my previous 68 roadster to work at least every Friday during the summer months.
I usually try to drive her a few time a week to work. Its a bout 10 miles round trip. Then about once a month my wife and I will her out for a drive up the coast. She gets about 2500 miles a year put on her.
When the weather is good I drive mine two or three times a week. Sometimes just to cruise, other times as my errand running car.. I do not drive it to work though, not really anyplace there I am comfortable parking it. For years C3's were a rare sight on the roads where I am from, but there are four or five others that I see regularly now.
I drove mine on a 400 mile round trip last weekend. Runs perfect, never any problems and car is no way trashed.. I drive it all the time when the weather is good. Probably not the c3 you are talking about...mine is an '81
Well, I admit after I started this thread I avoided it...kind of jealous in a way,
My cars been done and ready for me to go get her...so Fri we are heading up from Orlando to Jacksonville will pick up our 69 silver tuna with the new 383 mouse and then visit with father Bats who lives up there and head home Sat,
Anyone around Jax know of a good Sat night cruise to hit???
I drive mine all summer, it is a 1980, I just did a 1,700KM road trip in it two weekends ago. It's older than I am but it's still a blast! Around here there are a raft of C3s but most are in Horrible shape.
Hi Bats'
First the answer to your question.... almost.
Next you mention "father Bats". I've always wondered about the bat caves I see on the nature shows on t-v, the caves seem so big and crowded with thousands of bats that all look the same to me.... is there some secret to recognizing dad when you go home?
Regards,
Alan
I see C3s almost every day in the summer. Its always been a favorite here in the Birthplace of the Vette'. Drive mine every chance I get, although its expected since its new in the stable. Its a 78, but by far the most common years I see around town are 70-73.
I drive mine as much as possible. Drove it to work twice last week (27 miles each way), drove to a Dr. appointment (20 miles each way) and drove it to Camp Perry for the National Matches on Saturday and Sunday (10 miles each way). It's almost becoming a daily driver. With the heat we've been having, I'm seriously thinking about hooking the A/C back up.
I've got 670 miles on it so far this year. I take it out on average about 3 small trips a day. (on my days off) . Today : 1st trip - old folks home for a visit. 2nd trip - Walmart for some Coke. 3rd trip - liquor store for something to mix with the coke. 4th trip- nightly cruise with the wife down main.... THEN home and settle back and have a sip of that COKE and talk about where we're going to go the next day with the old girl.
I've seen ONE other C3 this year (and the driver wouldn't give the wave).
I try to drive my 72 convertible a couple of times a week when the weather is nice. I see a black vert (70,71 or 72) cruising the country side when I go out all the time. We wave and I know he thinks the same as me... why is this guy always out driving when I am?
Probably because he's lucky enough to be retired too!
