Here's a 2005 thread on c4 owners...not thousands but it is a little surprising...
c4 owner age distribution
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Based on an age of C4 owners thread running here I just had to do an age distribution by decade (I know I need a job ). FYI the numbers currently (as of 07/12/2005) come out like this:
Group....Num.....%
no tell.....6........3
<20.......18........8
20s........33......15
30s........71......31
40s........32......14
50s........43......19
60s........18.......8
70s.........5........2
total.....226....100
Someone did a study of all Corvette owners on the Forum but I didn't see the results. It would be interesting to compare across the Vette years.
It aint that! Geting her and keeping her running with all her problems and three deployments, driving me crazy. LOL I should have done more research before I bought but I wanted a 69 vette seince I was around 8 years old so I found one in my buget and pulled the trigger. She has fought me every day between then and now. LOL Hell I am checking this 'tween trips from the garage and the head.
I bought my 69 Vette in 1970 when I was 21. I still have the car today and still love to drive it. Age is relevent. I have met young guys that seem old and old guys that seem young. Enjoy life!!
I was 25 when I bought my '71 BB Convertible....but that was in 1975.
Yeah I bought my first, a '65 BB roadster, at 21. That was 1977.

As a non American, I didn't expect that.
I don't know to what extend it's true but all vette owner I know are nice guys for sure.
Not sure what you are getting at but we conservatives ARE nice guys.
I've heard the stereotype that Corvette owners are all just old men. I'm in my 20's and a proud owner of a Corvette. So how many owners are there that are in their 30's or younger? No disrespect to all the older guys on here, but someones gotta be the future old Corvette owners one of these days
Was wondering why it has to be a man...and why it can't be a woman...I just got my 81...but have been driving my husband's S/C '07 for years...so is there a sterotype for the women that drive these cars..???

I think that would put you in the group (non-corvette owners, we'll call them "outsiders") would classify me to be in. "Outsiders" think that people that own corvettes are just old men cause that's the old bit about "mid life crisis you just go buy a corvette" I guess I just hit my mid life crisis about 30 years too early, course I never was one to sit around and wait. Haha
Bought my first Vette in 1979 , senior in high school , a 1971. mille miglia red , 4 speed , convertible. $1200 and my dad gave me hell for spending so much
i don't know about female stereotypes but i can tell you that two of the four cars i test drove, that were personally owned, were in fact owned by women.what does this mean?i don't know but i can tell you one played the man and the other played the woman.

The last 2 c3s I bought were owned by women . a 1980 and a 1976.
Mine was titled in a womans name but her husband is the one that sold it to me and neither had drove it or even plated it the 3 years they had it. It just sat in their garage, so technically I bought mine from a woman but I like to think about it as they were just holding it for me.
It means owners come from everywhere and are of every stripe. The older ones I think are more often owned by guys who are handy with a wrench because the cost to have them maintained by others is so high. I have seen any number of new c5,c6 Vettes being driven by women. They work and have good jobs and disposable incomes and if they've dumped a guy and are free from other responsibilities they can do what they darned well please and do. If that vision includes driving a bright car that can go like heck, then they do. My guess is the gender is more skewed to men on the older ones for the reasons mentioned but it's just speculation.

yes they can now do what they darn well please all right.dump men too!i personally find bisexual, tattooed, overly dominant women very appealing.got me where i am today.
Bought my C4 at at 39 but that was 10 yrs ago. Got my 71 6yrs back. The C3 was bought from a woman in Chicago who had her hip replaced and couldn't drive a 4 speed anymore. She had been driving Vettes since the 60's.
I always wanted a Vette when I was younger in high school and college. Just couldn't swing it. Always said I would try to get one before 40 and just made it. Now I will turn 50 this year and the time just flies! Since my C3 is 40 and I'm bumping 50 it was time to get the 71 restored. I'm pretty much getting a frame on for my BB Coupe. It went in the shop a week ago and hoping to have it done in a few months. Yeah, years back I probably would have tried to do it myself but with a wife, three kids (14,12 and 9, two boys and a girl) and a demanding job it's a lot easier to dip into my toolbox and reach for my checkbook! I just want to get it done.
I think I have done my job though in lowering the avg Vette age in the future. My kids love them and would like to get one when they can drive...maybe mine eventually?
We have always been stereotyped but let's face it we are owners of every age regardless male or female. I'm sure it's skewed a bit in that 30-60 crowd though.
I was born in 1943 and a friend of mine born in 1941 just gave his 1965 Vette Convertible to his 42 year old son out in California who, much to his father's mild upset, is having it completely done and repainted professionally. He's drooled over his dad's car for years and now has it to go with his boats, truck, etc. The boy is not married and has a good job and plenty of time and focus for a Vette to be driven in Cal. on sunny days. Now that I think of it, the Vette is not a Cal. Smog vette but then again I don't think they had that in 65 either.
What a very interesting thread. Well, I guess I fit the stereo-type...at least half of it...(I'm 58)... not gonna comment about the "privates."
Bought my first Vette, a '64 coupe in 1971 as a senior in HS. Since then, I've owned (and sold ) a '62, a '76, a '72 vert, a '96 LT4 coupe. I just recently bought a '70 vert (see avatar), but it's still in a warehouse in Mo. Can't wait to get it.....just like when I was 17 getting that first gold '64 coupe.
I've been busting my knuckles on these vettes and many other muscle and non-muscle cars since I was 14. And yes, I too was one of those kids who had to maintain and fix EVERY car problem, "or walk." Surely proved to be the fast rail to an automechanic education.
I LOVE seeing younger folks of all decades of life enjoying their Corvettes. I think it's just great to have these young guns with the same pride of ownership of the great cars we all have been blessed to own! Keep the madness going!
Bought my first Corvette 2 years ago, 43 years old. Self employeed business owner, 4 kids one wife. When we were younger, we really could not afford to have extra cars. Now the 3 oldest are out of the house and on there own. Our youngest, my son is really into the Vette. This is our Date car. My wife drives a Mustang Cobra in the summer months and an Expedition in the winter. I drive a 2500 Suburban all year long. Al
Just my two cents on this. I'm 22 right now. I bought my Vette, a 1980 L82, two weeks before my 21st birthday and I drive her to school occasionally. I definitely don't feel old now and I don't plan on ever feeling old, no matter WHAT anybody else says!
