The Stereotype of Corvette drivers may be somewhat true....
I'm 67 and grew up in the 1950's when every kid wrenched on his car or let it set off the road... until he could afford that part he needed to keep it running and the normal way to spend a Saturday morning was roaming around a junk yard looking for parts ... Cars just got into our blood.... I have to wonder if any junkyards still allow you to just roam around with your own tools ... ???
Anyway my generation for the most part are very familiar with wrenching...I just doubt that todays "kids" ever had to work on their cars or walk ...
I also belong to two semi local astronomy clubs... same story my generation was raised in the beginning of the space age before man landed on the moon etc... as a result there are not many young members in those clubs either....
Bob G.
64 72 & 98 Ragtops and 76 79 and 88 couples in the garage along with a 11 inch telescope in my slotted domed observatory in the back yard......
BTW... I do try to stay with the times as I do own a cell phone but I do not Text !!!... LOL
I've heard the stereotype that Corvette owners are all just old men. I'm in my 20's and a proud owner of a Corvette. So how many owners are there that are in their 30's or younger? No disrespect to all the older guys on here, but someones gotta be the future old Corvette owners one of these days
I agree it's a shame there are so many stereotypes surrounding vettes. I have worked since I was 13 years old and have owned numerous mustangs over the years with my most recent one being a 2007 Shelby GT500 is sold. Years of saving, buying cars below value and reselling for profit and responsible driving now equal myself at 28 years old buying my first corvette a showroom new, 2007 red corvette z06 with 5,000 miles bought on February 8, 2011.
I bought my '76 when last year when I was 37. I love it. I have the scars to prove how much work I have done to it. My other car is a 68 Plymouth Fury II and I have had that since I was 16. Working on cars is a great hobby!

Almost same thing here, 39, '76 bought later year, lot of work (complete rebuild), scars and black nails to prove it.
Also heard words like conservative and rednecks when it comes to Corvette owner stereotype.
As a non American, I didn't expect that.
I don't know to what extend it's true but all vette owner I know are nice guys for sure.
I hate to break this news to you, Canada is in North America the same as the United States is. So, technically you are also an American.
I WAS young (20) when I bought my first one. Now 46 yrs old and 5 Vettes later I still enjoy them as much as I did before I was old enough to drive. The sterotypes don't bother me, besides people normally don't try to knock somthing unless that are secretly envious.

By the time I graduated from the U of Miami I already had 3 new FI Vettes...a one, two, and three...I would think there are many Vette owners here that grew up driving Vettes as I did and still do. But I have a huge problem of hating that damn 62. The reason for that statement is the Vette looks almost the same as it did new and I have that old mans gray hair and I dont look as I did then....The Dorian Gray syndrome in reverse....Ain't fair.....

Maybe in the future we'll all go to the clinic for a frame off resto
39 just got mine 2 weeks ago wanted to get one before my 40th birthday which is in 2 months. I would have bought one years ago if I could of afforded one.
I am 28 now, purchased my Corvette when I was 15. Used it as my first car for three months, put it into the garage and completed a full restoration. Glad to know I can be one of the few guys you was able to keep their first car, and what better first car then a Corvette !!!
