Let's see - I bought my first vette brand new in 1969. I was 22. I bought my second in 2008. It's a 1970. So in 39 years I've progressed one model year. I guess my C6 is a long way off!
I was 21 when I got mine. I am 47 and it is still in the garage. Back then I hung around with a bunch of older guys who lamented selling the hot rod they had as a kid, so I kept mine! I has spend some time apart over the years, but it is still here. Although now I guess it would be called a resto-mod.
Been thinking about a C4 for a daily driver. Prices seem too low to resist these days.
As many have said here, age is just a number. I had another birthday 2 days ago. It was a big one, but to me I turned 18 again with 42 years of added experience. I bought my '72 so long ago that I have to do the math on paper to figure it out. But it doesn't matter. My generation doesn't act like my father's did when he was my age.
Have you ever heard of the young and the old bull who broke out of their pasture? When they came over the top of the hill, they saw a herd of cows at the bottom. The young bull said "Let's run down there and screw one of them." The old bull turned to the young one and said, "I'd rather walk down there and screw them all." AGE AND EXPERIENCE HAVE THEIR ADVANTAGE!

When I was 25 I bought a 1978 Vette as a daily driver. Drove it every day for 4 years and never did any maintenance on it.
Now I'm 52 and own several vettes, none of which are daily drivers, and I seem to be doing more maintenance on them than driving them. In fact one is in my garage up on blocks right now, and the others have been driven less than 500 miles last year. Not each, but total miles.
Here's another way to look at it: Get it before you have a wife.
Get it after you no longer have a wife. Either way works. You can't afford two expensive luxuries at the same time in most cases!
I think it is good that younger folks (me included at 23) are into Corvettes. I have seen some younger people with some C4's around my parts. It is cool to see some of you under 30 with C3's. I love those Sharks. I find myself getting into the older Vettes more and more. Especially the C1's and C2's. A older friend of mine as a 59. Nothing special but a nice driver quality 59. It is a really neat old Corvette.
I have had my wife for 26+ years... my Vette for less than 3 months, they are both are essentials
If they have terrific jobs and can keep you in the style to which you'd like to become accustomed there is nothing bad about having a vette and a wife! I'm teasing! I was married 42 years but in all honesty had so many other priorities with kids, houses, college to pay for, a sailboat, 27 girlfriends in thirteen states a Corvette wasn't on the horizon until after that ended. Truth is, kidding aside, I miss her but then again, I like the Red Vette Really, Really well too!
Is there a study here where they've taken all our ages on the C.F. and put them in a chart just out of serious curiosity? Is there a link to a thread or a study? I'll google it next.
good for Delores, by the way! Boats and cars are usually named women!
24 Now.. I bought my first 'Vette when I was 21 when I came back from my first deployment. I have since sold it so I could buy a 4-spd. She is currently undressed.. I'm in the middle of a frame off (chassis done, body to go) Hope I can button her up by 4th July. The wife is ready to ride too!
