ddawson, thanks for the inspiration with your awesome ride. I went with Coy C-5 18 x 8 wheels with the Goodyear Eagle F1 255/45/R18 all the way around. Am planning on the white letters you used also. Now I need to clean the tires and get the rotors and hats painted black. Need to lower the nose also for a better stance. Thanks again ...
After reading most of the posts I'm still confused. I have a 1979 Corvette with the following wheel configuration.
American Racing Torq Thrust II's: Front 15x8 - P215/70R-15s: Rear 15x8 - P255/60R-15s.
I'd like to change the stance a little. I'm leaning towards 17x8 in the rear and would like to fill the space in the front a little more but P225/70R-15s rub on sharp turning.
Suspension and all that is stock and would like to stay that way. I'm trying to figure out what the max diameter tire I can run in both the front and back to fill the space yet give me the stance I'd like to achieve.
From what I've read I think I need to stay with a 4 inch back spacing, not sure about offset and not sure what tire sizes I need to achieve it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to have to buy this stuff any more times that I have to, so help would be great.
The front is a 4.5" and the rear is a 5" backspace. I think I went with the right backspace in the rear, but I had to add a hub-centric spacer up front to bring the wheels out. I don't think the Boss 338 wheels come in a 4" BS.
I don't know the technical term for the spacer, but it might actually be an adapter that I used. The adapter bolted to the original studs and then has another set of studs you bolt the wheel too. I was able to reuse my original lug nuts. I wouldn't have been able to reuse the lug nuts with a normal spacer. I hope I kind of made sense! (Didnt know what the thank you button did exactly so decided it was a good idea to press it! LOL)
