Hey guys, apparently coys wheels is not carrying the popular sizes for c3s any longer...

Will 18x8 4.5 inch backspace fit the front?
And will 18x9.5 5.5 backspace fit the rear?? Apparently these are the only sizes they have left...

Thanks!

The 18 x 8 should fit ok in front but the 18 x 9 with 5.5 inch backspacing would need at least the e-brake bracket relocated..and they would be very far inside..

I have since figured out they used the stock replacement 8" spring bolts. I am going out to jack it up and put the 18x 9.5's on and then the 18x8.5'x since there is only 3/4" bs difference they are making it seem like much more.

Not 18's, but I really like my 17's. 17x9.5, with a 255/50r17 tyre on all 4 corners. -5mm offset, basically 5" backspace. I can understand why people chose 18's, as I had to shorten the rear spring and move the handbrake cable mount to the top of the trailing arm. These would have fit inside the wheel on an 18 and not been a problem... I also had to reshape the rear sway bar slightly to avoid rubbing the tyre.

That is my exact set up. Just waiting for the weather to break here in the great north to bring them out.
I am adding some custom jewelry to mine to make them a little different though.

Those rear tires are hard to find here too. Local dealer called his dist'r and was told 6 weeks on back order. That seems to be Michelin's story anytime you can't find an available tire size. Anyway, went online and a tire dealer in Quebec located 5 in that size in Calgary, Alberta. Grabbed two of them. Should be here next week and the wheels.

Finally got tires mounted on rims. I used a 3/16" spacer on rears and relocated parking brake bracket. No interference. I have 8" spring bolts but the rear still sits too high. A 10" bolt will probably interfere with the tire. Live with it for now. I tried a 1-1/4" spacer on fronts but the tire just barely rubs the front fender lip. Without the spacers it fits fine but the wheels sit too far inboard for my liking. I will be lowering the front 2-3".

Ive been building my 1980 for a couple years now and I have 17 & 18 Coys. My rears are the 18 x 9.5 with 5.5 BS.

Fresh stock trailing arms.

Im running Nitto 285-35-18 NT-05 rears.

VBP 360 Lb mono spring 1/2" shorter on each end with 8" bolts

I had to move the brake cable brackets to the top and route the cable behind the arms. Also running 1/4" billet spacers with ET lugs. Tires have 1/4" to 3/8" clearance to the arms and tires are right at or just under the fender lips.

28.5 " from floor to lip at the center line.

Top of the tire to fender lip is 3 "

Trailer arm to bump stop with this set up is 1 1/8 "

Im going to run this and see how I like it for the first combo.

Yep sure is MSG, Ive always loved your car

My hood was allot of work, molded a L88 scoop onto my original 80 hood. I wanted to keep the front stock shape and lines. Also glassed in and got rid of all the seems on the nose and rear end.

Cheers Dale
