C3's with 18" wheels only thread
Hmmmmmmm > No my 80 does not have the top cap trim piece like on yours that you have Corvette, and the two cross flags on.
Looks to me like it never did, and its where the air intake snorkel was mounted with other plastic garbage on the support bracket.
I was going to fab one up, but not if I can find one that looks decent.
Thanks D

I painted it, added the lettering and flags and some chrome trim.

Yes. Boss 338 18x9.5 all around. no change to suspension to fit, only rear TAs b/c wanted a working parking brake and clean look...but not needed.
Did not 'totally' change suspension to get ride height. Used 550 lb replacement springs for 454 iron bbc, but have huge aluminum heads. Rear is fiberglass monospring from VBP (they are a great contact to chat with for technical) and it is 360# rate...I did get 8" larger bolts to lower just slightly from stock. so I guess the answer to the question is Yes I did. I could get a little lower which is what I am debating on now...she is on the fence of just right VS too high. ***careful when buying monosprings...some come ridiculously high...I would err on the side of lower, hence VBP.
I did a ton of checking and researching tire and rim sizing, then actual total wheel diameters. Nitto had a great website for checking actual wheel diameters. then bozeforged has a great sidewall chart for making it all jive.
Have fun!

Ok thanks, I ordered the new foam seal kit to go across the top to clean things up.
Really a beautiful car, great job Factor.
I have my 80 set up close to yours as far as ride height and still only have 1" from the rubber bump stops to the trailing arms, and don't want to drag the bottom of my car over every little speed bump or driveway.
I'm leaving it for now like it is, until I drive it a bit when I get it on the road soon.

I am gonna play with it for now...debating on a little lower, but gonna wait...got only 300 miles on new baby...
Kris K...car was manual steering. I added a Borgeson power steering converstion kit..WOW...a must...SUPER SUPER easy!
Not hard to turn wheels at all...the borgeson does a great job! NO RUB!
Thank you, I started on my car Jan 2014 and it will finally be nice to get it on the road in the next couple months. I started on the interior a couple weeks ago. I did the one off L88 hood scoop, starting with the original 80 to keep the look of the original at the nose. I also glassed in the front nose, and rear tail.
My trans is a never installed, brand new Richmond 6 speed I purchased from a member here about a year ago, also with the Long shifter new in the box. I was lucky to find it, since they have now been discontinued.
I'm going to do the same as you, run it a while, let it settle in a bit, then fine tune the rear ride height just a touch most likely.
I have the exact rear spring you do, but I had them make mine 1/2" narrower on each end for my wheel clearance. I want at least 1" from the bump stop to the trailing arms for usable travel under hard corner loads.
What you may want to do is put your car up on jack stands, disconnect the spring bolts, then carefully jack up each side under the shock mount, and run it through its travel to the bump stop. Then remove the bump stop and see how much further you can go until it bottoms each shock, and take note of both.
Though the bump stops compress, they don't much since they are solid and pretty stout. If the shocks allow a bit more travel, you can take a little bit off the bump stop on a belt sander. This will let us tuck the tires just a little closer to the fender lips and retain our 1" travel or very close.
Question what color is your car ? > Is that a late model Chevy color paint. It sure looks nice on yours
Cheers Dale
Love the hood! It MAKES the car!!! is it functional? got a pic of under.
350? any work?
Richmond? hmm...gotta ask why? that baby is gonna be AWESOME with a 6 speed! Debating on upgrading my 4 speed...

Hi Factor
The hood just has the 2" rise with the open back, its not sealed or anything like that. Still a heck of allot of air flow compared to a stock 80 hood.
Nope the 350 in the car is a new GM HO 350 with headers, better intake and Edelbrock carb. Its going to be a driver so for now that's just fine with me. At the most I may install a roller cam kit, air gap intake and maybe a 750 later. Ive had big blocks years ago from 427s to 468s. My dad and I dragged raced Corvettes in the late 70s and we built all our own motors.
Richmond 6 speed was new in the box for $3000, with the Long shifter, so I just could not pass it up. It also has great ratios to work excellent with my 308 gears in the rear diff.
You know I looked at that color for my 79 pro tour Camaro I've been building a few years, but man the paint was to expensive for me.
By the way I went with a complete Hurst conversion TKO 600 Tremec 5 speed in that car. Who knows maybe one day the 485 Horse 383 I have in it, may make it into my C3. That motor has only been on the dyno.
Started on my interior today and hope to finish up the back half this weekend. I Need to take my time dealing with new carpet.
Cheers DW

I am running a 3.31...but didnt want to mess with that yet...
Crazy...I found a great painter and we took the stock Z06 color and dressed it up! it came out like a House of Kolors, which is super expensive paint, for a fraction of the cost!
Good luck on the interior! I personally hate carpets! LOL

I would say the Tremec 6 speed is preferred, but this trans is brand new, should be nice and I got a great deal.
Man that was nice to find that painter Factor, and great when you win one once in a while. My painter Dave is a local guy that used to have a shop, we made a make shift booth and painted the car right hear.
He is pretty cheap, but flaky, and a bit of a pain to deal with. I need to do some final touch up and buffing, but it will be fine.
I had the so called ACC ready rear carpet in and out 3 times yesterday, fitting , trimming , tucking, trying the rear speakers and being sure it was centered the best I can to the tunnel. Then I installed the new rear two door compartment I bought from Corvette America. I was not happing with the air gap in the very back, so I pulled back down the carpet and glued it carefully then re- assembled. I am doing the same today around the rear wheels tubs and working forward, then will install the rest of trim.
Pain staking work, but I want it to at least look the best I can get it doing it myself.
Cheers Dale
