Hmm, after looking at your front clip photos again , it looks like somebody already did that. Oh well, keep up the great work .

I was fairly certain that today I would get some U-Pol liner on the inner fender wells on the front clip... Spent an hour or so, re-scrubbing, cleaning and scuffing up the fiberglass... Had a little more cleanup on the front as I laid a lot of fiberglass on the left front corner due to cleaning out some bad body repairs... I also needed to clean the right side after pulling the re-enforcements with some adhesive left behind... After cleaning the right side, found a "small" crack in the fiberglass... Probably a vibration crack from 38 years of wear and tear...
Well, at this time, I know I'm not spraying the liner as I really needed to "v" this small crack out and put some fresh fiberglass in there... Won't get to the liner tomorrow as we'll be at the track all day watching the NASCAR boys turn left in Vegas!!! Go JR!!!
Here are some pictures:
The front fender wells "both" had a tiny air gap where it looks like the bonding ahesive didn't provide good coverage when it dried:

So I set out to fix this with a little Evercoat SMC Panel Adhesive and Filler:

Needed one more coat with a couple of low areas:

Did some test fitting with the new fender seals:

Plan to shoot the underside of the hood and convertible hatch with the U-Pol "red" liner... After cleaning up the hood, had two small fiberglass cracks and another "raw" area that I needed to fix...
Problem areas:

Fiberglass down:

Grind:

Hand Sand:

Prep for a thin layer of filler:

Filler:

Here's the little fiberglass patch on the small crack I found during prep this morning:

And finally, here's the "rough" un-finished fiberglass repair on the wrecked (and poorly repaired) left front fender... Not too worried about the leveling this out yet as I'll probably be doing a lot of grinding when I fiberglass-in the new solid front bumper after the font clip is re-attached...

Know I got a lot accomplished, but really wanted to be a lot closer by now to putting the front clip on... Know I could be without the detail I'm forcing myself through, but still a little frustrating it is taking me so long...
Thanks for looking and commenting...

You deserved a break and treat the missus to a night out. I saw GT back on 9/25/1981 - they opened for the Stones in Philly @ JFK Stadium.
And man i thoroughly enjoy following your work!

They were HIGH here as well, just bit the bullet because I really want to see them again...

Tass got on the wire wheel to clean up some bolts...

I cleaned up the filler on the underside of the hood and that came out great... After a quick wash and dry, it's ready for the liner... Sorry, didn't snap any photos of the hood...
Did some "quick" test fitting of the fiberglass bumper... Don't know why, just felt like I wanted a peek at how well (or not so well) it fits... It's not bad at all, which kind of lifted me up a little... Have some work to do on lower valence as it has a couple of good cracks in it... But overall, very pleased with what I saw...

What do you think about fiberglassing the bumper screw holes??? Do I need to fiberglass these in to provide as much area to adhere these two pieces together, or are the seams going to provide enough strength to permanently bond the front clip with the bumper??? Going for the seam-free look...
Thanks much for looking and helping out...

First the bad... It has been 6-7 weeks since I paid for my C6 seats on Ebay and have not had good response from the seller... Not in a huge hurry to get the seats as they'll just take up room in the house for now, but just wanted a good tracking number to follow them as they made their way from Florida to Vegas... Ebay today deposited the entire purchase price in my account... While I appreciate having the money back, really wanted the red C6 seats... Feel I have been severely ripped off because it will cost double, triple, or even more to get seats in the kind of condition these were in... Oh well, back to the drawing board on seats!!!
After a couple of hours of scuffing, cleaning, taping, more cleaning, then more taping, finally got the red portion of the inner fender wells coated today...

I really wanted to tackle putting some wire mesh in the scoops on the fenders, but have chickened out at this point... With a black paint job, at least will get to see the Torch Red of the inner fender wells...

Sorry to hear about your seats - know you were pumped on that. Glad you were able to get your hard earned $$ back though!
Progress pics are looking awesome! So cool that you and your wife are doing this project together - you'll both get to really enjoy all the hard work and know what went into the finished product.

Haven't ventured that far yet ;-) Not a lot of wrench turning left at the moment... After the front clip is on, it will be a lot of filling, priming and a ton of block sanding... If there were more plain flat surfaces on the car, I'd let her help block sand...
But the best part is that she WILL help with anything I let her do... It's just me having the courage to let her have an attempt...

A real challenge, but a lot of fun at the same time.

Got a nice surprise when cleaning up today... Remembered I put the driver's door latch in some degreaser a few weeks ago... Pulled it out today, rinsed it off and it looks brand new... Check out the difference between the un-cleaned passenger's latch with the driver's side:

Has anyone seen an aftermarket dealer with the screen and weatherstrip for the ram air??? My screen is coming apart in places and the Wx strip is very worn... I'll probably send these pics to Willcox to see if he has them...

I'll post more pics of the painted pieces as soon as they are completed tonight...
Thanks much...
