My gosh, do you know how lucky you are?! Your wife sounds like a gem!
She's a keeper!! Almost everyday I am out there she comes and asks what she can help with... She's also got that perfectionist mentality and a steady hand with a brush...
everything looks great! AF NCO here, wish I could to a frame off, but my "new" '77 is my DD. Every time I see a thread like this, it makes me want to buy a beater and just go for it. Keep up the good work!

Thanks TSCW!! While I am thoroughly enjoying the frame off, I certainly can't wait to drive this thing... Don't know if I would go as far as a DD, but 3-4 times per week will be very nice... Living in Hawaii again would be a dream come true and can imagine some great drives... Our three and a half years there were tremendous... No way would I wish a frame off on anyone... Everytime I think I can only be in "put together" mode, something else has to come off... Think I'll turn the corner in 3-4 weeks...
That would be you!!! Thanks much for putting so much detail in your thread... Would be dead in the water without your tutorials and in-depth documentation...
After a thorough scrubbing and replacing two small brackets I had to remove to do some touchup fiberglass work, the firewall was re-attached tonight!!
Here are the two small brackets riveted in:
Then the firewall re-attachment with Fusor 127EZ. Put it on the birdcage first...
Then placed the firewall on the pillar posts about 3-4 inches short of final bonding fitment... Now put the Fusor on the fiberglass floor panel joints:
Then its "Rivet Time"...
Put 4 rivets in each side of the floor pan to hold joints tight... Don't know if I'll leave the rivets in, or drill out and fiberglass the holes... Probably the latter...
I decided against flipping or laying the car on its side to clean/spray the under carriage... Thanks Brent and JNB... I thought about it for about 30 minutes doing my measuring and horse a$$ing around... I was going to swim upstream, but after a couple of more thoughts, I asked for advice... You guys gave it... I SHOULD listen... And I have...
So, going to put 4x4s (about 13 inches) under mount 1 and mount 3 to raise the whole body another foot... That should help a little...
Brent, we went after it for about 90 minutes tonight, knowing we would not finish, but got a good bit done with both of us cleaning... Should be able to finish up tomorrow and do a little fiberglass patching over some holes (after market cruise, rear deck luggage rack, sealing alarm hole, etc)...
Great Job Rog, I can't wait to do this one day. I think it's awesome that your wife is helping...and not just sitting inside complaining on how much time you spend with the car and not her! Love seeing couples do stuff together!

I feel very lucky that my wife is behind me on the build because she knows that I really want to do this, but also because she is excited about it too. She, however, is not one to get out there and help with the dirty work. You are REALLY lucky!
Hey Rogman, are you still using CitriStrip on the undercoating and then Lacquer thinner to clean up? I am ready to start cleaning the chassis and just want to do it efficiently as I don't have the lux of having a helper! Anyone else with suggestions / experience please chime in.

Sort of... Same method different stripper... Finally found the Aircraft Stripper for Fiberglass:
Think it works a little better than CitriStrip, and costs less... CS smells better, and doesn't hurt when it touches your skin... Wife likes the Aircraft better as she doesn't mind the smell... Here are some before/after pictures from cleaning tonight...
Here she is hard at work:
Here are the guys that came over to help lift the car up about a foot:
Got a few things accomplished today!! First, floorboard is back to being a one-piece unit without any gaping holes...
Got the rear quarters stripped, good bye Blue, for now...
Almost got all the metal pieces removed from the under carriage... Time for a good sand blasting and dipped in POR...
Tomorrow, need to finish cleaning up the under carriage... Do some fiber glassing on some random bubba drill holes and finish prepping for the Lizard Skin...
Perfecto, my man! Keep it going! Just got in from the garage myself. Not too much progress, but a lot of learning and mistakes bleeding the front brakes! Another have-at-it tomorrow.

Thanks rd... I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't make mistakes every day I'm in the garage...
