I'm looking to replace my door glass. The vertical scratches are driving my nuts. I've tried the polish route with zero success. Any suggestions on buying new glass? It's fora 78. Date codes would be nice, but correct thickness and fit are more important. Thanks,

This company ( PILKINGTON ) has many of the original "GM" templates from Libby Owens Ford ( L.O.F )I used them for my windsheild, they manufacture & can date code as well. Not cheap but "CORRECT" i'm uncertain if they do door galss or not but you can call & ask, if not maybe they can refer you to someone.
Have you tried the supporting Corvette vendors on the left like Zip? They sell both a non-dated replacement for $180 while the dated is $320. Ecklers has it even cheaper at $140 right now.

T H A T ' S - I N S A N E !!!........ I think I paid an additional $50.00 to have the date etched into my windshield. Must be more then just that, maybe made in China poor fit, thin, JUNK @ $180 no date coding avail VS must now go to the real deal like a PILKINGTON type glass @ $320 which also includes the date code price so $270 + $50 for date = $320 / no way they get $140 just to date code the glass...........
PILKINGTON IS THE DIRECT SOURCE.....( if they do side galss ) I know they do windshields ) ..........They supply most the catalogue companies.........do your homework !!!

You'd better get some new anti-rattle cushions in the doors and get them adjusted properly before installing that new glass....or you might end up scratching the new ones.
I have Pilkington side glass on my '71. Quality was fine, fit & finish identical to OEM. It is available with and without "astro ventilation" logo. I picked without since I wasn't building an NCRS car and I think it looks cleaner without it.
Hi m,
I used Auto City Classic for the glass on my 71.
It's pilkington glass, and they can do the logo and date at a reasonable price if you want it.

Alan

I had scratches in both sides on my '69 roadster. Found correct dated RH glass at a swap. but as yet Im still unsuccessful finding a LH.
Ive seen a lot of glass at swaps, and if you want a real piece, dated properly, you should be able to find a '78 coupe piece. Write down the correct date codes and markings and hit the swaps.
Or look in the for sale section. People sell them there. I just sold the pair from my '78 with no scratches for $50 for the pair. Of course after selling it I then saw that my '81 drivers side had scratches and I could've used the glass myself
