Have not done anything of significance recently as we have been up in northern NSW for almost 6 weeks helping look after our 10 month old grand daughter as our daughter in law took a fall and broke both bones at the ankle. After a number of hospital visits and an operation to put it all back together she was then unable to put any weight on it for 6 weeks.
We were tired after almost 6 weeks but was great to spend time with them and especially to bond with our grand daughter. They moved up a couple of years back.
11-1/2 drive each way but we did come back for 3 nights in the middle for another birthday party 😀
So there is a car show this weekend and the 71 needed a bit of a detail to get some dust off.
Have done the paint, now just the interior and wheels, and I hope it does not rain in the weekend.
Did a Cars and Coffee event on Sunday, great turn out with over 1000 cars. They ended up having to turn cars away as they exceeded capacity.
As the event was rapping up and I was about to leave I was chatting with a young photographer who had spend the morning shooting cars. She seemed captivated by the curves and lines of the car. Here are a few of the ones she did of my 71.
Thanks, it was actually nice to have someone enjoy taking hundreds of photos of the car. Was happy to stay at the event longer to allow her to get all the shots she wanted.
Vette has been sitting since last used in September with family activities travel etc, also the last month has been very windy so even with the car being in a garage dust gets through and it was well covered. I will need to look at roller door seals 😀.
Gave it a very quick hose down then a wash.
Have been using a fairly cheap Ryobi hand blower to dry off cars after a wash for the last year and it I just makes the job so much quicker. It has a soft nose so little chance of damage if you bump anything.
After going over the car with the blower 90+ % of water is gone
So a quick wipe over with a soft drying towel and it’s all done.
Back in the garage and looking good again. Ready for some cruising around over Christmas, New Year.
As always CraigH your car and garage look stunning. Enjoy the christmas and new year cruising down under.
Thanks Primoz, hope you have good Christmas break as well. We always wonder how it must be to have snow at winter rather than summer heat 😀.
We would love to do something like a euro Christmas markets river cruise at some stage, but elderly parents etc meen we need to home at that time of year.
Beautiful car and garage.
I hope to have a garage I can enjoy someday.
My problem is limited space and it seems I always have some project to work on.
My family is still in Southern California and their Christmas temperatures are in the 90’s right now.
Serious piece of work sitting in that garage!
Well Done!!!
It really is 'in the details' !!!
Regards.....
Thanks Alan
Yes so true the details are what can bring it all together, not noticed by all but well worth the effort, and all just part of the fun.

Thanks Greg
It seems no matter how much space you have it will be overfilled before you know.
We hit 37.5c yesterday, close to 100f so I washed the car about 8pm last night. At least we don’t have high humidity.
Craig, that sure is one BEAUTIFUL vette. What color blue is that? I'm going to stick with Mulsanne Blue for my '71, but I doubt it'll turn out anywhere near as nice as yours...

Hi Paul, it’s Bridgehampton Blue, has a bit of green in it from certain angles and light conditions. Took us a while to match the colour with modern paints but we used original GM paint samples from a 71 GM sales guide as well as paint match gun results from the multiple shades on car from its last paint work in the US and posted colour mixes. Happy with the way it ended up, hopefully you will be with yours once done in Mulsanne Blue.
Having lived through the body and paintwork I can see imperfections that others may not but that’s what comes from having a bit of OCD 😀
I fitted my radiator and seals many years back. Recently I have noticed that some of the seals between radiator and its frame had shrunk and don’t seal that well and also the original style ones don’t seal a few areas allowing a lot of air to bypass.
So starting with passenger side.
I removed the seal and reshaped it to also cover the top edge as well as adding rubber to make it fit more tightly.
Refitted the updated seal.
I will have to add foam to the bottom as well but the top seems the place to start.
Have done a couple of good runs in the 71 this week, did a full tank refill and when I got home I noticed the fuel vapour separator, on the top side of the fuel tank, was wet on its lower edge.
Tank was filled all the way so some fuel could get into it going around corners I imagine.
It’s an original Rochester part so I will remove it, clean it all up and put a bead of jb weld around the bottom joint area.
From some searching the reproduction ones are not that great so hopefully this method on my original will do the trick.
It’s New Years Eve here in Australia so this can wait a day or so 😀. Happy New Year to you all. 🎉🍺
