Thanks guys.....I fought the damp sand for a total of 9 hours/should have taken 4 hours. …………….
Now to order the rebuild kit.
Question: Who sells a rebuid kit/bushings/seals/springs that fits correctly? I remember a while back a Member had to modify the Teflon bushings so they would fit correctly.
I went with stainless steel head light springs from Zip and fit great ,no more rusty springs .
Thanks sug.

That's what I did when I bought the bags of sand. I always keep a 100W light in the blast cabinet to keep the sand dry and hot, but the bulb burned out about a week ago and that was that.....after the hurricane goes by this week I'll put the sand on a 3' by 5' metal tray in the sun.
I'll put a 60W bulb in the cabinet with a thermometer to see how hot it stays in the closed cabinet....60W may keep the moisture out in Louisiana humidity.
I'm switching over to the motorcycle frame to wet-sand and clearcoat it. I'll build a small temporary spray booth of plastic wrap and use a halogen light to keep the humidity out while the clearcoat dries.....

Is that a 5 speed your running on that Shovelhead !
Id love to do that with mine but I don't want to lose my kicker !
They get real proud of the 5 speed in a 4 speed box !

Dey too proud.....that's why I bought a close ratio 4 speed....it has much better torque than the standard 4 speed that came stock on Harleys.
Keep the kick-start! I went with electric start and that cost more than the kicker.
I put a small (belt) pulley on the rear wheel to keep the rpm around 2,200 at 60 mph.
Tomorrow I will remove the plugs, connect the engine wiring, and use the riding mower battery to rotate the crank until I get good oil flow thru the
return line at the oil tank.
I may try to start the engine if everything goes O.K Its been stored for 4 years.

The hurricane set the car paint job back another two weeks/no biggie.
Since he already painted the hood I will remove the front clip and bring it home to sand it down and repair the crack above the wheel wells.
I will wait until I reinstall the clip before I rebuild the nose forward of the headlights (converting BACK to chrome bumper front clip).

Your telling me ! Back in 2007 when I got mine back together they wanted something like $3000. for the 5 speed in a 4 speed box with the kicker ! Nice thing bout mine is its factory kick and electric! Can't tell how many times several of us would start ours with the kick in one shot while others were trying to get a blister on their thumb only to shutum down and hit the button just ta mess with them ! Mostly when their battery wouldn't start theirs and they had no other option! Ah the good ole days !
Question , wouldn't it be easier to get another clip if your going to pull that one then fix the old one and sell it to pay for the new one ?

I hear Ya' 'bout the drivetrain. About the front clip....I need the fiberglass repair experience and Derek made some good repair pieces that fit behind the chrome bumper and also fit the grill opening...It'll be fun
