Hey Tony,
Glad to see you are getting some work done on the Harley.
I've wired my share too.
What people don't realize is the fun part of doing it right is getting all those wires run from the switch housings, through the handle bars, through the forks and through the frame.
Fun times.
Stay healthy.
While the car is at the painter I decided to clean one of the door locks. To my surprise the mechanism INSIDE the door is the same quality as what you see on the outside...…the parts were greasy/corroded/tarnished……......…
I DECIDED TO SCRUB ON THE PARTS FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES...….
The mechanism is assembled.....outside view and rear view below...........
I did manage to clean the inside of one of the dual gas tanks on the Harley.....no pics, but the inside was nasssssssty!

Hey Doorgunner, who did you send it to for paint? Glad to see your project is still coming along nicely.
Hey Sig...I was thinking about you....you're still in the same house? Hershel's Body & Paint is doing the work. He did a great job on my hood 2 years ago, but he has moved into a larger building/taken on more work, and is slower than Christmas.
The doors and body rearward have been ready for paint for 2 months.....but rainy-day insurance jobs keep bumping me down the list.
Sooooooooooooooo… in the meantime I'm working on the cap at my house...…..
prepping and tapering the edges of the triangular repair piece..........
The triangle is tapered and ready to go into place.............
there won't be a ridge on either side of that triangle patch? may want to lay up some extra glass under the patch edge in case you have to grind the seam lower. and LSU took care of bidness against that red algae bloom...

Looks like youre enjoying some decent weather down there finally. Its in the 20's here in the mornings and warms to the 40's after lunch....snow and salt tuesday...

You guys taught me that trick a while back...now every repair I make gets a "valley" on top which is filled in with 1' overlay per edge/then a valley underneath which is filled in with 1" overlay. per edge Then top and bottom is ground/sanded smooth.
Yep....Ole Miss was the top rival for decades against LSU....then after Nick Satan Saban bailed on LSU to go to the Pros/Alabama
we have had a grudge against him. They have hammered LSU often since our National Championship.
Payback was gooooooooood.

I reached a stopping point on the Harley wiring rebuild so I put in an hour on the Vette clip...…..
About a month ago I cut out a bad section from the top of the passenger fender./then I shaped and beveled a repair piece..................
I'm checking the piece before I fiberglass it into place.....the repair piece in Pics 1 & 2 is reversed..............
I had to move the hood away from the repair area since it is already painted/I also moved the headlight repair panel away from the triangular repair piece in order to get a c-clamp on the second corner and third corners of the repair triangle.
I applied panel adhesive to the underside of the piece along the hood opening........then I filled in the beveled "vallley" with mat across one top edge............
Tomorrow I will remove the c-clamps and apply mat to the 2nd & 3rd corners. Then I will re-fit the headlight panel against the front edge of the hood and clamp the panel into place.

V.A. says Liver damage...
this oughta' be fun...."Part 309"
of never-ending post-war lab-rat experiments
(Little-known Fact: More Vets Die From Post-War Crap than from Combat)
I squeezed in another hour on the triangular repair and rough-sanded the long edge that I fiberglassed a few days ago. I will fiberglass the underside of the repair piece before I sand the top smooth...…….
All the strands are rough sanded away...………
The view from the passenger "seat" forward. The headlight panel is about 1/16" higher than the top of the fender/hood surround. When I apply fingertip pressure the two pieces match...…..
NOTE TO MYSELF: ALIGN DRIVER-SIDE OF HEADLIGHT PANEL BEFORE FIBERGLASSING PASSENGER SIDE OF THE REPAIR TOGETHER!!!
Blue_ thanks. I've been going thru lots of med. tests lately/now two days sofa-time after bone marrow biopsy from left hip (thank you Agent Orange.gov) and have only an hour here or there to work on the car.
I did manage another hour which I tweaked the headlight panel on the Driver;s side more to get a netter fit on the Passenger's side...…….
Passenger's side after rough-adjusting top corner of headlight panel on the Driver's side fender...…..
The Drivers side top corner headlight panel where it meets the fender still has about 1" overlap which I need to rough-trim away and re-fit before making final trim cuts in order for tit top to lay flat with the top of the driver fender.......
Once the driver side fender top/headlight panel are bonded together I will cut away all the lower fender section "piled-on" fiberglass on the lower driver side and begin fitting the parking light repair panel into place/same thing with the passenger side fender.
I will install the hood hinges and hood surround gasket to level the hood surface with the hood surround & headlight panel before I apply any leveling adhesive to the fender tops.
NOTE TO ME: I also need to fit the headlight re-nforcement bar to the underside of the headlight panel once I am satisfied with the leveled areas.

You definitely have your work cut out for you. Very brave to take this much work on. Good luck with the medical issues. Take care of yourself. Have to keep reminding ourselves we aren't as young as we once were.

Thanks Members.....remember-I never touched fiberglass until I bought my 1st Vette Project car....Experienced Forum Members are guiding me thru the process!
Tony,
Nothing ugly about the quality of work you are performing on that front end.
Very Nice as always!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Be thankful for everything you have.
