They say a picture is worth a thousand words...
That one looks like a million dollars!
Thanks SPCL FX...WHILE I'm in the area I may as well spot-weld the gas tank I built/pressure test it/install it after I fiberglass the marker light pockets in place. It will be nice having a 20 gallon tank rather than a temporary one gallon gasoline container in the cargo area
A member suggested that I install the sending unit on the top of the tank rather than the OEM location on the bottom of the tank to help prevent leaks.
I will make an access door in the floor of the cargo area in case the sending unit or the "sock" ever needs replacing. The tank is held in place by a heavy-duty crash-resistant frame with 6 bolts going into the frame of the car.
In 2013 when I started this build I found a photo on the internet. The car in the pic was my goal...….
So far this is the back half...the Painter did a good job of making it happen...…
I didn't do any fiberglass work yet...we've been hving storms one behind the other all afternoon. I also realized I need to cut the holes for the backup lights so I can bond the supports in place for the backup light housings.
The rain just stopped......I'm On IT!

You Guys! Anyhow...here are the pics of what someone who is on V.A. meds does things sdrawkcab…..
Can you see my hands trembling a little....drilling into a freshly painted lower valence
I couldn't find the handle for the hack saw blade....I also ground off the height of the blade so it would fit in the radiused corner holes I drilled...…..
You can see I made the hole smaller to prevent the heads of the screws from being seen........

I'm trying...little by littler. Have you see Roger lately? Last time I saw him he dropped off a load of pieces for my front clip about 8 months ago. I know I'm goofy, but I can't find his thread.

What an awesome job.
How much did you lengthen the rear body section?
You HAVE been gone a while! I didn't lengthen it... I removed the '76 tail light panel and installed the '68-72 panel with chrome bumpers.

OK! Time for me to start back at post #1 and read through the whole thing.
I must be thinking about another thread. I really seem to recall someone extending the rear section of a C3 bumper car.
But I did go back and look at the first 80 posts again. I see what you started with, and I am seriously impressed with your efforts.

Practice practice....OOOOPS....more practice. I already ordered the lenses before I started the surgery.

"do the other side." ..................................DONE.. ..............
Man I would have had a lot more tape around that area before I got near it with a drill. And may have had some other heavier duty protection rather than tape with brand new paint. Ewe da man! Great job!

Being a machinist I sometimes take a chance,,,,I still need to file the straight areas to blend with the radiused corners....good thing I made the holes smaller!

After I'm done with the backup and marker lights I will reinstall the doors....then bring it back to the Painter to get 3 paint-runs and 3 mosquitos sanded/buffed out...

I was looking for his thread recently too. It looks like he had it taken down. He changed his username to SB64. I seem to remember he posted in this thread with that name saying he was having issues with one of his neighbors that was trying to get him in trouble for painting cars on his property and had found his forum thread. Looks like he’s still around though, but mostly posts in the C2 section.
Its a shame the thread is gone though. I was looking forward to seeing it finished, and there was a lot of good info in there.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
