In other news..........the engine stand is now a transmission stand.......
As my Recovery Room Nurse says........TAAAA DAAAAA!
ALSO...... since I am not an engineer....why would ANYONE put an upside-down drain plug....which will leave 2 qts. of used fluid in the bottom of the pan?

Too many Borrowers.....Not enough memory I'll have to whip-up another one.
HOWEVER............
I could see how it happened....internal rod in the headlight vacuum actuator was broken off where it screws to the threaded clevis. I disassembled the actuator/drew a print of the original rod plus the missing threaded section.
Next stop was my friend's machine shop where I could machine a new rod......
( sure...I could have bought a new actuator...but where is the fun in that)...
Now.....a trip to the garage to thread the left end to fit the clevis/then reassemble the diaphram and canister.
3rd part from the left between flat washer & diaphram backing plate...remains of broken actuator rod
(pic is distorted because of "panning tool in my Kodak")
Also...I attempted to install the weatherstrip on the deck lid...and realized I never order the dog-leg rubber inserts that scew to the body channel which diverts water AWAY from the interior of the car

IF you're going to lend tools, make a large white-board for the name, phone number/address, tool and date loaned.
I very seldom lend tools, but when I do, they had better be clean and back when promised.

BRACE YOURSELF........I did (7 years ago). My grandkids wiped the board clean so they could draw pictures on it.
My rule is I never loan tools.
After years of keeping to this, I loaned out my wheelbarrow to a friend who needed one to move a load of bark into his back yard.
One month later and several times asking for its return, I needed it.
I drove to his house, he wasn’t home, jumped his fence, grabbed my wheelbarrow, cut the lock off his gate and brought it home.
He was pissed.
Never again.

maybe because a recessed drain plug is better than a sheared off drain plug and NO fluid left in the pan? still beats the nonexistant drain plug in most tranny pans...

Good point....I'll relocate the drain plug to the back- lower rear of the pan away from important stuff.
I'm going back to the machine shop today to fabricate an adapter that will connect the 4L60E trans to the 4L60(non-E) speedo-drive tailhousing.
Should be about $400 worth of fun/on Sale for $20 (price of the metal bar-stock)

I loaned a Toyota repair manual and an 18MM 4x4 hub socket to a student of mine. Had to go and face him down too. Returned the book (dirty), and never found the socket.
Neighbor borrowed a M/C charger. Said that the battery was toast, wouldn't start. Now the charger is DOA. I suspect he tried to start the bike with the trickle charger attached. He pleaded innocence. It is more like stupidity.

So the lessons for today class ... if you lend something, plan on it being gone never to be seen again!
Or “never a lender nor a borrower be!”
I know, I know we are all great guys and just can’t help ourselves and that’s all I have to say bout that.
I had a neighbor kid about 19 years old keep borrowing my tools. He would borrow one or two tools and return only one. He kept doing that, borrowing something else and only returning one or two. My most expensive tool was a flex-head 1/2" drive long handle ratchet that I received as a Christmas gift from my girlfriend. He borrowed that along with a couple of other things. One day I went to use the ratchet and realized he had borrowed it and not returned it and I had not seen him around for a couple of months.
I went and talked to his mother and she said that he had joined the Navy and was gone! Lou.
I didn't go to the machine shop yesterday/I only have dimensions for the 4L60E face of the adapter.
I'm still waiting on the speedo housing to arrive by UPS so I will have the dimensions for it to transfer to the adapter.
I decided to make one trip instead of two to the machine shop.
I had a guy ask for some ammunition once, so I gave him some.
He looped around and asked for more, so I gave him more.
Guess he got enough, because he didn’t loop back around again.
Come to think of it....in '72 I loaned some ammunition to the left doorgunner ....he used every bit of it.......
then he wanted more

Before we took off I told him he needed 3,000 rounds (Two 1500 round ammo cans...if I remember correctly).
He said that was too much weight to lug around.
He ran out and demanded more.
I told him to use his * * * *ing bayonet.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
