Hey Tony,
I think they might have added an extra zero to the asking price.
on copart's site, the retail value number posted is the orig estimated value before the damage and after complete rehab. car may go as high as 2500. here is an example. est retail of 25k. obviously radically overpriced at 0.00 https://www.copart.com/lot/68725981/...te-mt-billings they have to list them all. they can not decide it isn't even worth crushing until no bidders...

because it is owned by the insurance company and in a yard with about 1000 totalled cars. there is no labor pool for any more work than seeing if they start and drive. they have white plastic they will use to seal stuff up. they did so on my shot convert top on the copart bomb i bought. but sealing that interior now is kind of like closing the barn door after all the cows ran out... or flowed in!
Outstanding Thread. Thanks for your service to our STILL Great land. Just spent my Sunday morning reading. I have a soft spot for the 68 was my first Corvette just out of the service in 77.
these cars are expensive to fix. like this 69 https://www.copart.com/lot/32766542/...te-va-richmond tony, me, priya, rvzio and a bunch others on here could do this repair for reasonable money. body shop? well, they got the estimate high enough to total it with that 37k retail value. and some shops may be willing to pad the estimate if they were getting paid to do the estimate as opposed to free.... and seller wants 22k. overpriced with that damage. that is the top of the rear body. kind of shows...
Derek thanks for the response. I guess I should look closer. Some of them don’t have obvious damage. I know it doesn’t take much to total these cars so I guess they can easily wind up on these auction sites.
Interesting to see what some of them go for. Even the flooded one can produce a lot of great parts.
