Door Gunner, the stock 68-up steering wheel center is on two different levels. I do not see how the new wheel will fit, unless you make a thick shim for the 68 hub, where it is lower.
Just trying to help you out. Lou.

Lou.....thanks for keeping an eye on me!
The P.O. installed a Grant aftermarket 13" diameter wheel with the correct adapter.......
All I need to do is remove the 13" and install the 15" wheel.....and then my shoulders will start feeling better
DG, I would highly recommend getting power steering for your car. I had sold my 3 1/2 year old 69 Camaro to buy my 68 coupe. I did not like how hard it was to turn the wheel to park and I did not feel safe making lane changes on the freeway with the manual steering.
You guys are so lucky now. I had to buy used parts from the only guy in the Cleveland, Ohio area that sold used Corvette parts, to get my set-up, for $100.00 in 1973! Lou.
Lou.....Thanks......I'll check some vendors/prices tonight.
(Meanwhile I found that the P.O. installed the wrong carb adapter...which explains the hiss when the engine is idling/high idling/weird mixture screw settings/etc)
Thanks go to member "addballer" for the CAI Custom Intake idea.....
The experimental CAI......(Pay no attention to the nasty engine/engine bay).......................
.........is now a thing of the past......................
The aftermarket high-rise hood (3"rise) worked out well (dust & all)...........................
It is not easy to see (pic taken from driver's seat of internal hood tunnel)........there is about 1 1/4" of clearance between the hood tunnel and the top of the 4" tall dual air plenum...................
I still need to install a cone filter on each intake tube where they enter the wiper tray.....the filters snap onto the tubes/the large end of each filter will fit against the forward wall of the tray/will have 1/2" clearance from the tapered end of each filter and the wiper motor arms.

Very Nice! I also love the radiator shroud you came up with to direct the exhaust air down instead of into the engine bay. Anything to get under-hood temps down is a good idea.

That is another experiment........u g l y.......but it dropped the underhood temperature 80-90 degrees after I added the CAI-Mini-mechanical fan to the mix!
I posted the infrared readings.....I forget the thread page.....check the Table of Contents on page 1
It appears as though I have made a decision on the type of exhaust the project will have.....(LOL!)
Because of the terrible roads in Louisiana, I decided to go with sidepipes that hugged the car body.....the great-looking chrome header/sidepipes wouldn't last a month in south Louisiana.........
so.......I laid one side out........................
They should look O.K. with a gallon of Gloss Black covering the fiberglass.

Why do you feel that would hold up better? My header sidepipes sit higher than those will, unless your seeing something I'm not. It will look great either way.

7t9.....mine are on the floor.....that's why yours look higher!
(Just kidding) Now you've gotten me wondering why I assumed a single pipe would have more ground-clearance than headers!
My "perception" probably is affected by owning Harley Davidsons all my life with a single downpipe from each bank (front & rear cylinder on Harleys) flowing into chrome mufflers.
Thanks for giving them a !

Today I managed to fit the "trial" dual cone air filters into the wiper tray and connect the plenum tubes....I will have to fill in the fiberglass where I had to remove it to fit the filters (pay no attention to the nasty engine bay...LOL).........
I also found a safe place for the new sidepipes until I finish modifications in the engine bay... .....
Ohhhhh no-o-o-o-o......they sent me two passenger sidepipes.........(just kidding)!
That's it for today/It's good that you Members remind me to do SOMETHING..........even if it's only an hour's worth of work!

Nice work DG. I sure like those side pipes! Just my 2 cents, but I've stored pretty stuff like that here and there and in hind sight wished I would have wrapped them in plastic to keep them clean. My 2 weeks until I get back to them turns into 1 or 2 years and a spray of this and a spray of that and some sanding here and there and my pretty stuff sure was hard to clean up by the time I got back to it. Keep up the good work.
LOL! I cheated! It's an improved S&S 1984 reproduction Shovelhead/no leaks since 2002! However....it does burn out an exhaust gasket every 6 months.

Good Point about garage residue getting on shiny stuff! I will be installing them next week......to make the dried/flaking dull black paint look better (LOL!)
I took a better pic (couldn't stand the night-time pic I took days ago)....

Gunner, you got 2 right side pipes
What manifolds will they tie into?
