Sorry, Dude......this is as close as I could get it (I was hot, tired, hungry, sleepy, and my diaper was wet).........

While I was making the short exhaust section, I turned the downpipe 45* away from the oil filter for some extra airflow (not easy to see because of the camera angle)...... and covered the entire section with exhaust wrap........[I]pay no attention to that greasy undercarriage/flaky engine paint---it's on the To-Do-List...LLOL.....[/I.......that's the old exhaust pipe hanging in the background.........]

There it is.........complete with grimy fingerprints and tools spilled neatly out of the "pick-up box"..........

That's good to hear Brack! The "hour-a-day" saying works!

Of course......it takes a month to re-install a steering column

Doorgunner-

I just wanted let you know the rocker panels on you car are NOT correct for a 68- will loose several points there!!!

I try to mess with my car every evening- just a little bit and at least feel I'm a little closer to getting back on the road!!!

LOOKING GOOD- Carry on!!!

I try to mess with my car every evening- just a little bit and at least feel I'm a little closer to getting back on the road!!! In that case I'm in good shape...my car was "messed with" from front to back/from radiator to transmission crossmember/now I trying to "unmess" with it LOL!

Well........I think I have the "hang" of hanging a sidepipe now!

Time to run over to the auto parts store and buy the necessary exhaust adapters to connect the passenger sidepipe.

Let's see if I "can do this" in less than a week (the good news is......the PTSD is still slacked off and is allowing me to get SOMETHING DONE....even if it takes ten times longer than it should)

Moving right along........I welded the front frame nut in place and attached the forward bracket (hard to see....it's left of the cordless drill).....I also welded the rear frame nut in place and attached the bracket.........

The pipe is roughed-in/hung on the brackets......the clamps need to be set the correct distance apart so that the pre-drilled holes in the heat shield line up with the pre-drilled holes in the clamps.......then I will cut the bottoms off the brackets so they won't be visible

It looks like the car will be getting new rocker panels once the new paint goes on!

That's it for today.

Looks good Gunner, you going metal to metal everywhere? I know some kits come with rubber cushion washers, guess it acts as a vibration eliminator. Knowing you though you'll probably be able to hang the car by the pipes,
Good luck

It was a relief that I got that far in one day....it took four days to hang the other sidepipe (a 1-day mod is taking 10 days.....PTSD SUCKS!)

The kit has the rubber grommets...but they are too flimsy.....I wouldn't be able to lift the car using the sidepipes....LOL!

Thanks....I thought for a year about buying them/finally decided on the "simple-style sidepipes/I'd rather put the funds into "the downpayment/LOL" on new paint rather than on great-looking $1200 stainless header-pipes.

I'm NOT going to read any more of your replies!

While installing the 2nd sidepipe I didn't like the way the supplied brackets were so easy to bend/reposition....Calo's comment kept rattling around in my head.................

So......I bought 2 feet of 1" X 1/4" thick steel flatbar.....10 minutes later I had a heavy-duty bracket ready to replace the front bracket on the passenger sidepipe.....I'll fabricate 3 more since this one worked out well....

Do you not think the pipes are hanging a bit to low? Those curbs are vicious you know.

No problem......if they are too low I'll flip the brackets over and remove 3" from the exhaust downtubes

Or maybe you can just go lower all the curbs in Louisiana.

Yeah......well........I'm installing 4-corner air shocks with front and rear sensors to raise the car when going onto curbed parking lots/driveways!
