Default Building a Paint Booth - Part 4

The baseboards are resting on weather stripping to avoid dirt sneaking into the booth. In the front and the rear there are big doors to get the car in and out. On one side there is a smaller door to get me in and out.

Ok, now I really have garage envy ! Lol.

Default Building a Paint Booth - Part 5

Weather stripping is glued around the perimeter of the 5 doors to minimize dust. I call it my Intel room.

Lighting is critical. I installed 24 LED shop lights, each 2200 lumens, 4000K daylight glow. That's 52800 lumens and I'm not sure it's enough.

Default Building a Paint Booth - Part 6 (preview)

Next step: Install a bunch of 20x20" fans and filters, for both input and output filtered air flows. The fans have three speeds. I will not use the high speed setting.

How many of those would you install for the input, and how many for the output? I want a positive pressure setup.

Default Finalement, les pneumatiques

For a long time I hesitated between Avon CR6ZZ tires (295-50-15 for the rear and 275-55-15 for the front), and Hankook Ventus H101 tires (295-50-15 for the rear and 265-50-15 for the front). Both options had pros and cons.
Avon pros:
- more authentic look
- better performance
- ability to put Good Year stencils (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-stencils.html)
Avon cons:
- the front and rear diameters would have been the same while I prefer a smaller diameter for the front (more appropriate for a racer look),
- a very tight fit in the front because of the 26.95" diameter and fender flare,
- the high price, $2100.
The Avon cons ended up tipping the balance though and I finally decided to get the cheap Hankook for 1/4 the price. I got them yesterday through Amazon.com - not happy about the old production week of the front ones though: 2917.

Today, where all the fun happens:

Thanks for taking a peek!

As you can see caskiguy, I'm about 70% done. Fans + filters + plastic cover + electric connections TBD, and voilà.

Hi RBrid, a really nice job on the building of your paint booth. It should give you the results you are looking for. Love the garage building also , not the snow though! Anxious to see the results. Great job and tires will be awesome.

Thanks Roger! Given the explosion risks though I would not recommend the way I have done this to anybody. I realize it's not done the way it should be, with all the electric stuff inside the booth, but I'm willing to take the risks.

I'm building a freaky wind tunnel with four fans + filters for the air entry, and four fans + filters for the air exit. I'm done building the enclosures for holding those 20"x20" fans and filters.

Pushing in clean air:

The exit strategy:

Thanks caskiguy, I wouldn't mind having a drivable vette until mine is done (in spring 2022?)

Ha, that's a good one. Work looks great as usual. Booth should serve you well when you get to the paint stage. DIY you gotta love what we come up with!

Considering it took me 3 months to build a paint booth, I wouldn't be surprised if I finished in 2030

Part 7: plastic sheeting installation.

This is why you build a booth, right?

Default New kid on the hood - Part 1

Here's how the novice that I am has worked for 3 months on the hood. Are you ready for some pictures?

This is what I had to deal with: Pointy tips (with a p) sticking up on both sides.

Obviously I could not live with that.

Default New kid on the hood - Part 2

My phase one was build up the bottom side with glass and VPA:

Now I had the strength needed to shave off the top side.
