I got rid of the Pertronix and installed the Lectric Limited, noticed a big difference, runs much better than it did with the Pertronix

I was going to give the http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/ignit...1962-1974.html a try but maybe I will just leave well enough alone, if its not broke dont fix it "right".

If the points are burnt neither a dwell meter or a feeler gauge will correct it.

Hi,
I believe the point gap was designed so no feeler gauge was needed.....
A matchbook cover sets them just about perfectly.
Remember there was a time when many people smoked and matchbooks were free for the taking. Some even had pictures of risque' women on the cover!!!!!
Regards,
Alan

I believe it was ALWAYS 'Seven of Nine', not 7 of 9. A man could be amused a long time with those.

Alan, your dating yourself.

Had one of the first aftermarket electronics bought as a kit you assembled yourself back in about 73. Kept blowing the main trainsistor. It had a switch you get use to go back to points. I used the switch a lot. Got fed up with it and ripped it out. I think it was called Delta.

I think I'm dating myself as well

Points are no big problem if you keep an eye on them.

About 0.017-0.019" is fine. But I do it with a dwell meter. The matchbook trick works well. Problem is that Bic lighters have basically laid that matter to rest.

The one on my car was junk. It had a miss that I could not correct. I replaced the cap. rotor, coil, wires and still had a miss.
