Trial fitting console and checking out the color contrast. Debating on going red with it or two tone it... tough choice
Hey JB-
Thank you!!!
I'm ordering the black with red stitching and will do red stitching on my custom console and dash...Now- should I get the stainless steel grommets...or the black ones...
Here's a thought on your dash-console-
I'd stick with the tan- and maybe trim it out with a brushed aluminum look- painted black. I think it adds an nice touch- not as "look at me!"
I did it to my gauges- hit it with a belt sander - then sprayed it a flat black.
Here's the dimensions- for anybody else interested
I'd go with black grommets on a black seat, kinda blends in a bit more than a shinny grommet (my opinion of course!)
Yes the console is going to get some detailing, wife and buddy suggested I do a small 2-3" tall storage space above the stereo to put phone there or wallet.
The shifter plate will be metal, was thinking wrapping it in CF wrap material as I plan to wrap the roll cage in CF as well. The top flat portion of the console (were a vent could/would go) is probably going to get a name plate (corvette or "the sled" as it is how this project is named). Really I put the console there to see how I liked the contrast before I went further into the rabbit hole of details and customisation. I also got a C7 shift boot to incorporate (black with matching beige stitching).

I'm gonna let the wife pick- as she's getting the seats for my birthday!!!
Yep- I'm doing a storage tray- definitely a must!!! I got a hold of a door and mechanism out of a Cadillac Escalade. Has the push button - slow opening door- worked out great.
I also got rid of the parking brake handle - added a E-Stopp parking brake controller and put in cup holders...hope I'm not opening up the rabbit hole!!!
got the windshield in...not super thrilled with the original thin upper reveal that simply won't sit correctly. Lets face it, that's one bs piece of trim, you can bend it by just looking at it sideways and those clips, I'm not a fan of them either (I prefer 69 camaro trim clips over those by a long shot and I wasn't a huge fan of them either ! LOL). I'll probably buy a new trim piece later on. It sit flush until you tuck in each corner then it bow at the same two spots on the left and right of the windshield.
Got the windshield set almost right...could have been spaced out more on top, but I ain't pulling it out (that's how I cracked my perfectly good factory one, so no thanks !)
I really like that console, for my custom console center plate I made it out of aluminum counter sunk the holes and had it wrapped in black leather w/red stitching but my interior is black. For yours I would keep it tan, don't bring any of the red inside. Looks great like that IMO. I agree with Rich, brushed or polished metal would be better.
Ahhh- are you gonna wrap the whole rollbar with the Carbon fiber wrap?
I like the cover where the rollbar meets the carpet- I've cut mine and was looking for a way to trim it out- looks good!!!
I've got some 1/8 ABS plastic I was going to vacuum form and mess with.
BTW- my seats should be arriving next week- thanks again for the lead!!!
Richard
yeah, I think I will wrap the bars with that CF wrap. I had one spare piece large enough to try it as I wasn't sure if I'd like it...so far I do...and the couple friends that have stoped by to see the car also gave their nod of approval.
you'll have to post of pic of your seats installed! we might start a trend! LOL
popping in to give props on that center console, looking forward to see a headunit mounted
but for one, why not go with an android auto headunit? it's really nice to just have all your phone stuff mirrored on there, and something to consider is the headunits with larger than 7" screens like this guy
for another looks like you did a lot of fiddling to make it fit though, are you communicating that back to the folks who made the mould so they can improve it?

I have the Pioneer AVH 210EX going in the console (we installed the 601 in our truck and really liked it so I stuck with the brand for this).
I've only posted some of the mods I did to the console, I just got done laying some more fiberglass on it yesterday. At this point I'm not exactly sure if buying this saved me any time or frustration from making one from scratch, I'll convinces myself it did though lol. I have not communicated back to them, I believe they make it to fit all variance of the C3 floors which inherently requires modifications as there's some big differences. Thankfully the general contour of it works well.
My answer to those silly plastic velcro like clips.... I added metal panel clips (drill rivets out, drill 1/4" hole in the center of existing clip, re-instal) and drilled a receiving hole in the door. Repeat 4 times around the door, and you get a tight, positive locking system while still allowing removal of the panel with no drama (I must have removed it 12 times as I was fighting the install of the door pull -yes 69 door panels on 68 doors, you don't have the upper door pull fastener bracket, had to make that).
I thru the seat in (not fastened) and added the A pillar cover to see how it all ties in...so far so good I think
I think I’m going to use your clip idea but with different clips. C3 door and console design is a pita in almost every way imo, lol.
by the way, you don’t have the rubber anti-flex/rattle donut on our door linkage rods. They might rattle. They go in the Chanel area. My old ones were hard as a rock. One on the inside too. I’m doing my interior now too or I wouldn’t know.

Got the seats and they fit fantastic!!! I measured my height in the stock seats and then in the TMIs -it was only a 1/4" higher- also consider my seats had the original worn out foam in them and 100K of seat time.
I was able to attach the the stock C3 sliders to them and they work great.
EXCELLENT Find!!! Thanks again!!!

yeah the car didn’t have them when I got it either, I’ll get some for good measure! Thanks for the heads up!
