Initial cut with 1500 then 2000, whole pad with compound and some carnuba wax to see how it comes out...good enough to see the truck

Unfortunatly I have a couple little dings I missed and a couple thin spot in the back...

never sprayed before, first time behind a gun... (but not the first time wet sanding lol)

Looking awesome! I love this thread. Keep up the good work. Just a quick comment on the "carnuba wax" you mentioned above... it's my understanding that you should not use ANY kind of "wax" on fresh paint for 60-90 days. This gives the paint more time to cure. There's a lot of chemicals working their way out of fresh paint for a long time. Polishing compounds made specifically for buffing out the color sanding process are the way to go. It does look amazing though! I'd just hate to not say anything and read down the road that your paint started getting little bubbles.

Default Vette

Nice, those are some giant meats in the rear! I just shot my first car, something I always wanted to try. Jason makes a good point on the wax. It's easy to want to see the finished super shine project but if you can hold off it might be a better approach. Looks nice.................................... ........................................ ......................

thanks guys. I checked on the spec sheet and the longest wait time it called out for was 48h for decals application. I should be ok. The really sad part is i missed two "dents" on the nose and a couple thin spots in the rear which will all require re-spraying the whole car. The paint is cheaper than the primer, that's the only good thing about it...

Re-sprayed the whole car and painted the doors. Working on hood and deck lid next.

picture of the under side of my modified long to short hood. Chamfered the edge of the cow with the under structure for a better finished look. Hopefully painting this monday.

Some progress: hood's done (both sides), head lights cover and wife helped me put the doors back on. Was gonna do the hood and lights too but I forgot to pain the hood hinges...Starting to look like a car again

Second time around and things look really nice. Had to do the same on my black 69. First shot just wasn't right. Nice work!
