Looks real nice Jack. Who is doing the rest of the work, you?
The rims will be sent out to a local guy to get sandblasted and powder coated, I will replace the wiring harness, Vacuum lines and stain and re-install the interior. I also have a mechanic on hand to help with any other mechanical issue I might need or help that I might need as well.
The shop that it is at still needs to do the final polish on the paint install all the badges switch out the 4 speed manual with the new 5 speed manual windshield and all the chrome around the windshield as well as getting the wiper door back together.
Not sure about the top I need to look at the frame and see if it needs to be re-built or not, if I can get away without re-building it I will send it to a local guy that did the top on my brothers 50 Merc to install the top that came with the car. If I need to re-build the frame I will have the Vette shop do it next year sometime.
What is really great to see if you take a look at the original rear deck the P.O. built up the rear end of the car to match the convertible top deck lid, what the shop did was to take the arch out of the deck lid to match the rear deck of the car and to be the original shape of the car.
Lots going on with my car, the badges are on, weatherstrip side mirror at least the drivers side chrome front and back and the drivers door the passenger door needed some repair work and will have a little re-paint done to it. She will be moving out of the paint booth today hopefully if the rain stops and be placed on the lift for the new 5 speed transmission and so they can send the rims out to be cleaned up and powder coated. With the way work is going right now I have released the shop to do more work on the car since I do not seam to have the time and I do not see being able to make the time and I really want the car on the road as soon as the weather turns.
Found myself up at the Mechanic's the car is out of the spray booth and in the maintenance side up on the lift, The rims are out for powder coating and the transmission is out. They replaced the crossmember because the PO hacked it out and replaced the center with a piece of steel, they also had to do a little tunnel re-building due to past patches that were bad. Car is looking good, the mechanic said everything underneath looks good and was re-done recently so it is good hearing it from a professional.
Dropped off the interior today everything except for the carpet (I forgot it), car is looking good they were finishing up the new transmission installation and fixing the emergency brake (it was missing a bracket and the pulley at the Y fitting was trash). They should be staining the interior next week, replacing the wiring and vacuum lines then comes assembly. Only two real surprises, The car had power steering and is currently missing the pump bracket and several other items but the arms are for a power car so I will be having the missing power steering items put back on which will make it so much nicer to drive. It also looks like the previous owner made or adjusted the side pipes just from the amount of welding that was done by someone that does not look like they weld for a living (like me). We have to double check that the side pipes will fit properly behind the covers or I will have to go to plan B, not sure what that will be.
Yes that sucking sound is my wallet in case you were wondering.

Jack
Sounds like you may meet your spring time deadline Jack. Gee I have heard that same sucking sound also and I don't really like it much.

So far it has not been anything that I was not expecting and even the power steering where it was unexpected it is something I was seriously considering. The side pipes might be a couple of grand but if that is the biggest problem so be it.
I think the best thing anyone can do is not to count the money going out. It's working for me right now not sure if I will feel the same way when all the money I put aside is gone.
