indianriverbound,

Without me going through your other post(s) and all the work you have done...I have a few questions.

I.) Does your car have steel rear leaf spring or fiberglass design????

2.) Can you take a photo of how your spring is attached to your trailing arm areas???....and post it

The reason is...using the shock to raise up the height is something that I feel is mot correct. I understand you have air shocks. And not wanting to **** anybody off 'thinking' that I am preaching to you or others..( but more than likely will)...but shock absorbers should not be used to raise up the rear of the car...that should be done with the spring and its rating. So...you should be basically able to set the height at the trailing arm spring bolts and have no shocks on the car...because the shocks dampen the ride and NOT lift the car. I am just 'saying;' that....which is why I asked the questions above. I feel that you might be heading down the wrong path....but I do not know the dynamics of what you have done...so i am somewhat 'blind'...and might need to know more.

Please excuse me if I missed some important information...so that is why I am asking.

DUB....I totally understand what you say about the shocks. I guess I could put shorter bolts at the ends of the spring to lift the rear but I will still be limited by the shock travel and still need the extenders. The spring is the original steel......Hey....if you have any ideas that will not break the bank I am up for suggestions....all I need is another 1/2-3/4 inch to be good.

QUESTION:

When you look at your rear spring from the rear of the car...is the bottom leaf level or almost level???

The reason I am asking it looks to be in what I can see in the photo you posted....which i do appreciate you doing. Thanks.

Honestly...I think you are due for a new spring.....BUT.....if the air shocks you have are limited in travel...that does raise a concern.

Making the custom metal brackets for you rear shock ...concerns me. I would be afraid over time that a possible fracture in a weld or factory bracket on the frame could occur. YES...I am overly paranoid....so I have been told...but I always 'look into the future' and make sure what I am making and fabricating up passes my mental tests on the stress that a part will carry. So if you go with a custom welded up bracket that you can bolt to the factory upper shock mount area needs to be really stout and not able to move...or the chance that it can move over time.

Are you totally set on using air shocks??? and if so...is it because the way the tires and wheel well can possibly conflict with one another???

If you can post a photo directly from the rear so we can see how your rear leaf spring looks when it is on the ground.
