I have this rolling Truck Vault cabinet I was going to put on Craigslist. Its kind of like a artist's desk with drawers and working top. I just re-did my garage and need to get rid of it.
You want it? It looks a lot better than that Ikea desk.

That's very nice of you! I need to take you up on your offer for beer! What is your schedule like this weekend?
So i have read a lot about soda blasting and its uses for safe paint removal from Fiberglass. So I decided to try it out. I picked up the 40 Lb blaster from Harbor Freight. IT worked pretty well, but my Compresser doesnt have the max CFM that the blaster can use, so it is slow going. Here are some pictures of the kit and the progress.
I tested it first on a piece I know will be replaced, and it worked well and didn't damage the glass.
I started with a 1x1 area to test and judge how long it takes as compaired to other methods:
That spot took about an hour, but that included most of the time to get most of the kinks out. It creates a lot of dust, and its not any cleaner than chemically stripping, just a different kind of mess.
Safty first! I'm sure this equipment will get its work cut out with all the fiberglass and paint work I will be doing over the project.
The next step on the frame is to install the fuel tank - mostly because I have all the parts for it.
I got this custom fuel tank with my SRIII frame. Its pretty sweet!
I had previously media blasted the fuel tnk cross member bar, so it was time to prep and paint... I just made the mistake of not completely test fitting it first
My make shift spray booth - this should hang most of the parts I need to paint bracket wise. I'm using the POR 15 frame paint in a spray can.
The paint came out great!! But... it didn't fit right
So it was time to break out the torch and trash the brand new paint job
Then it fit!
After that I re-painted and bolted her in with new hardware
I used the jack to hold it close to in place... its much easier to install it before you have a fuel tank sitting on it, I am sure!

Once again, welcome to Oside! Let me know what parts you need and I know a guy with a warehouse full of parts to pick over.
I met up with Ed (Lobzilla) at his buddy's brewery in OCean side last weekend, and just like he offered he hooked me up with a rolling tool cart!
I got to check out his beautiful blue 68!
Here it the tool cart:
I had some scrap wood, so I am putting a wood top on it to make it more like a work bench:
Hopefully I will finish that side project tomorrow. It gives me something to do while the chemical stripper is going its thing.
Slow but sure progress! I like it and look forward to future updates.
Thanks! its awesome that anyone is interested in my project. knowing people are watching for updates is what keeps me taking pictures and writing posts. I will do my best to keep it updated as I go!
I think that transmission would look better in my car than your garage. Good to meet you the other day Bob, and you are most certainly welcome to the cart/desk thing. Brinx also wanted to know if your coming back for the lobster party?
watching from down under as well , looking good . LOVE that chassis.
Awesome! I visited Australia back in 2000, I had the opportunity to tour most of the country, but didn't make it to Perth. Beautiful country!
Thanks, SRIII did an awesome job on it, I can't wait to hang a few more parts on it!
I had the fame out in the light today while I was playing chess with some car parts. I took some pictures to share!

Oh yeah??
I finished the wood top on the roller cart you gave me... it came out pretty good! I'm excited I have more work-space now, and it has so much storage! Thanks again! Beers on me for sure next time!
I test fit the bell housing on the transmission, thought you would like to see:
Man that frame is amazing! The tranny is looking slick too. SO are you continuing with the chemical stripper or with the blaster? That is in my future too. Keep up the great work!

Thanks! I am doing both, the chemical stripping is easier on the larger flatter areas, and the soda blast will be used on the harder to reach areas... both are messy, and if I'm honest, neither are all that much fun after the first five minutes.
So on Monday this week, I was able to offload a BUNCH oh extra parts I have accumulated over the years from the C5 and leftovers from the '69 and '74 bodies. I still have some parts left, but I made a BIG dent in it. I found Steve at SoCal Corvettes on Craigslist while searching for other parts, and saw a few good reviews on here about him, and got a positive recommendation from Ed (Lobzilla).
If you are looking for used parts, check them out! SoCal Vettes
Loaded up the trailer
The front entrance does not lead on to the massive parts stock right beyond that door!
Of course I didn't leave empty handed, I got some original, re-chromed bumperettes (Mine were mismatched and one was rusted through)
A set of beautifully re-upholstered seats
And I'm exchanging both sets of doors I have for a set that he will go through and test everything on, and a good set of glass in them. Power windows, and a new lock set
Steve also has an aftermarket front clip for me that is all ready to get glued on!
Looks like this is the start of a great relationship! Its awesome to have such a great resource just an hour away, looks like I will need to get all my parts in the next two and a half years while I am in Southern California!
