Default Screw removal problem

As you can see in the pictures, some @$$hair used a very long screw in the bottom of the passenger inside door handle. When I was removing the door panel I had a hard time with it and I actually twisted off the head. Well now I se why. The screw was way too long and actually hit the window hardware inside. It bent when the windows was raised and now I'm not sure how to remove it. I'm thinking about cutting it off flush with the door frame and drilling it out. Any suggestions?

Can you raise or lower the window to free it up? If you can then clamp on a vise grip and unscrew it. If not then cutting from the inside flush with a dremel and try again. Last resort drill it with a tiny drill. Most likely the drill wont stay centered and could screw up the door threads

Kroil or 50/50 acetone/ATF. Be patient. Best bet would be if you can turn it from the inside, turning it clockwise as you look at the broken end. You might start by turning it a little bit, back and forth. If inside the door access is good, you should be able to get it out.

Cut it off, drill it out, and let the shank just fall down to the bottom of the door. Then, you can remove it. Drill and tap for the next size larger screw, but grind down the head of the new screw to be about the same size as the original one. No one will be the wiser.

If you want to be detailed about that change, paint the underside of the [new] screw head red and also put a daub of red paint around the threaded hole where it is to be placed (smaller area than the head will cover). That way, anyone removing it in the future will know exactly where it goes.

FOR WHAT IT IS WORTH:

I encounter this crap A LOT!!! I generally straighten the bolt on the inside of the door and I can remove it from the door panel side. I get about 99% success rate on this. And this is because the door panel is still on the car..because I obviously can not remove the screw to remove the door panel...and i generally know I have a problem the second I notice that the screw is slotted and NOT Phillips headed.

dremel a cut across the diameter(turn it into a flathead screw), and use a flathead screwdriver to unscrew it out..

Glad to see you got it out.

For what it is worth:

I have noticed that some suppliers sell these Phillips head screws for your door pull...BUT....sometimes they are also a bit long. I would NOT advise on using a screw from a hardware store that is slotted so a flat blade screwdriver can be used. I really like it when I work on one and it still has Phillips head screws. The flat blade design is s bit of a pain.

I ordered a screw set from ZIP. I think these are included. If not I will be sure to take your advice. I haven't taken the drivers door panel off yet. I know it won't have the same problem because the door pull isn't even attached.
