Its obvious you people here are incapable of any kind of civil discussion how funny.
Jeez man, The first four replies to your question we very civil, honest answers to a seemingly foolish question. I only say foolish question because the only gas you can get at the pumps is unleaded.
I'm curious what kind of fuel you thought C3 owners were running if not unleaded gas? That is a civil question for you to answer. Let's see if you can offer a civil answer.

We're kiddin. But, when you upgrade to a C3, a special social aspect comes with it. "Noobs" was rude, turning off the extremely knowledgable C3 experts on this excellent forum. It is as much a social forum, with incredible experienced, but nobody has time for your pot shots. Especially from a C6 guy who should know better. You wouldn't appreciate it either.

Wow...how did this whole thing deteriorate so quickly? Mr. Bashcroft is NOT a 'noob' of any sort. He's a painfully knowledgeable contributor to this forum.
To the point:
I recall being able to buy leaded gas when I was in high school...1992. One particular station. I'm sure they can't do that any more.
To answer your question: Absolutely, they can run on unleaded gas.
There are debates about valve seats and such...that you need hardened valve seats to handle unleaded fuel or some such thing. By the time 70 rolled around, the manufacturers saw the writing on the wall and were building in the needed improvements for unleaded fuel.
The issue is more with OCTANE than having lead or not. Certain engines (the old LT-1, for example) run high compression ratios and don't like modern fuel. I had a real-deal 11:1 LT-1 engine in my car when I bought it and it showed evidence of detonation. I can't speak to what grade of fuel the PO put in it, though. I only run 93 Octane.
But...I ramble. Yes, you can purchase one of these cars...any year you choose...and run high-test unleaded in it 'til the cows come home. You'll be fine.

Silly me wanting to come to the C3 Forum to ask a question about a C3 I'll know better next time.

Thank you that's what I was looking for. There use to be a few stations that you could still get leaded gas.
Good for you. The more you know about these cars, the better the position you put yourself in. Knowledge is power. There are a number of good C3 books available to give you a back ground. Buy some and read.
When you come back, you'll be doing yourself a favor if you make an effort not to **** people off, especially those you're asking for help.

Good luck with the hunt for a C3.
So asking a question is pissing people off how stupid of me to ask a question about C3 gas in a C3 Forum.
Lets try this: NO! You cannot run unleaded gas in C3's. You have to buy leaded race gas! That applies to all C3's, L-88, LT1, L46, L-82, L-48. New motor, old motor? Yup all of them!
You know... I have received a lot of great information from this forum. But there seems to be an arrogance and even a "snobbish" streak in some of the people on this forum. And a serious lack of ANY kind of sense of humor in most instances. Can't we all just get along and quit creating drama? I have two young teenage daughters that get along better, and certainly behave much better than some of the people here. Seriously, I am about ready to ditch this forum and start hanging out exclusively on the FB groups and at DigitalCorvettes.com. Gasp!
Keep in mind that almost none of the 60s-70s cars have the original built engines anymore, and when they get rebuilt, and the heads are rebuilt the valve seats are replaced and upgraded to run on unleaded gas, compression ratios are changed usually lower to run on lower octane fuel. They had pump gas in the 60s capable of running 12.5 to 1 compression which some stock production engines had.
There is no way you could get away with that on 93 octane, even the 10.5 to 11to 1 engines have to be detuned to run on 93
