Hi tb,
It's really a pleasure to see the quality your work! Very nice!
It looks like you have a very good space to work in!
Regards,
Alan
Thank you Alan. Yes I mentioned to my wife 2 years ago that I needed to put her car out of the garage while I separate the corvette and do the chassis. Her comment was "it's time to build that garage you always wanted" how great is that. So I did. It's has heated floors, AC this year, 60 gal. 5 hp compressor, 20 ton press, Sand blast cabinet and a nice set of storage cabinets with bench and so far most items I've needed. Wife bought me the cabinet for my birthday. I am a very fortunate man. Here a quick shot of some of the work area. The body is covered under the car cover for obvious reasons (stain).
Hi tp,
Looks like a REALLY nice space to play with an old car!
A serious person can do an excellent job even in a crummy work area, but a pleasant/roomy work area doesn't hurt!
Regards,
Alan
Been trying to stay focused. Will be starting to reassemble the rear next weekend. Please keep in mind, I am re conditioning all I can. It would be a fortune to purchase all new parts, so bear with me.
Hi tp,
Glad to see your post.
Both progress AND very nice looking work too!
Reusing, restoring, or rebuilding a part is often worth the time and effort because of the questionable quality and high cost of many new/reproduction parts!
Regards,
Alan
Hey that is looking great! That chassis is the foundation of it all. Understand completely life and money issues and reutilizing parts - This body ain't got that kind of money for all new stuff! Keep it up and keep those grandkids involved as much as possible!
Short update. My steering box is with Gary (gtr1999) for blue printing. I heard here and on others forms this is a worth while rebuild. So we will see. I can tell you that he update you every night with a detaile explanations and pictures to boot. Very nice. He also has my spindle/bearing assdmblies for the TA's. I will be picking them up this week for weekend assemble. He does have a bit of work , I was 5 to 6 weeks but worth the wait. I will update with pictures when done.

Well I started a year before you and I'm still working on mine. I'm a little ahead of you but not by much. Doesn't really matter how long it takes as long as you're enjoying yourself while you doing it. Like you said life gets in the way. No matter, you are doing an excellent job on everything. It looks great !!!
Hi tp,
"Doesn't really matter how long it takes as long as you're enjoying yourself while you doing it." Quote from Ned!!!
This is so true!
Working under the premise that 'this must be done by a certain date' can change what can be a pleasure into just another chore.
I just looked at the amount of space you have…again!!!!!
Regards,
Alan
Quietly been working again. Here's a few pictures.
Steering box was sent to Gary(GTR1999)Total blueprint box. Fantastic work. Nice.
Trailing arms. I disassembled, blasted and refinished all the parts. Sent the bearing assemblies to Gary for proper bearing set up with custom ground spacers and shims. I reassembled each arm at home and installed.
Fuel lines, tank and Brake lines.
Off to start rebuilding the differential next and then the transmission. What fun
Hi tp,
I agree with Richard!
There's something both technical and beautiful about a well restored chassis and running gear.
I REALLY like them when the engine and transmission are installed!
Nice looking work! Especially on the trailing arm!!!!!
Forward!!!
Regards,
Alan
