This is me when I worked in the field. These are essentially fire extinguishers of the pre-engineered kind. 1000lbs of Foray dry chem ABC and 90 Gallons of Liquid/AFFF foam.
The best way to handle a fire in the automotive/heavy equipment world is a dry chem application ABC. Typically you'd only use the AB portion of the classification of a fire in this case. Also I would possibly use a Purple K dry chem from Ansul (One of our companies) which is B rated and 50% percent more effective than an ABC Extinguisher.
I wouldn't use a clean agent such as Sapphire, FM200, FE-36, Inergen, Novec etc.
Clean agent is used in data centers, libraries etc.
OP, your extinguisher is technically usable if it's in the Green area on the gauge. You have a stored pressure extinguisher. In the industry there are 6 year inspections that require a company like us (TYCO, SimplexGrinnell) to go through the extinguisher on a bench IE: Dismantle it. For the cost of that service, run to your local store and buy a replacement unit IMO.

Purple K from Buckeye is what I have for the vette now. The bottle says it's BC rated, is Ansul different some how to only get a B rating?

Sorry ReevaV8R, it is also BC. I was focusing on the fire fighting capabilities of Purple K over ABC specifically for the B rated fires. Our cars don't really have to much to do with the C rated fires in comparison to gas/fossil fuels etc. And before I get jumped on from someone by saying that, what I mean is essentially we have an alt or starter which is pretty small in comparison to everything else that would need to be extinguished in fire
