They took away the best part of a '74- the smooth bumpers.

This is a case where the former owner should not have been allowed to possess an Eklers catalog.

I like resto mods as well as the next person, but this is a serious case of car abuse.

Some will disagee. We don't all think alike. I do agree that these mods will adversely affect the value of this car.

Don't do it. Unless the Benz is really bad, you'll lose big time on this deal. I had a '03 CLK500 as a DD years ago, and really liked that V8.

Fugly. I don't know what possesses people to put 80-82 clips on the front of earlier cars.

If that's a '74 then they frankensteined parts from different years.

It's obvious that the bumper isn't 74 but the front clip isn't either. In '74, where the front clip meets the front bumper should be a "v" shaped mating surface. This car has a "v" shape with a notch in it which was from '75+.

The radiator and shroud look aftermarket as well. I'd double check to make sure this car wasn't in a front-end collision.

If that's the engine in the car, I'm doubting the seller's claim, that it has a "matching numbers" 350. The heads and valve covers on the engine, are 84 and up heads, so I'd say it's a good bet that the engine is newer also. Admittedly, numbers matching doesn't really have much bearing on the value of a car that's been as heavily modified as that one.

There are many more potential buyers for a stock automobile, or one with only minor changes, like mag wheels, than heavily modified ones.

Do yourself a favor and move on from this car. Keep looking till you find a more original car to trade for, or a cash buyer for yours.
