Years ago I had a 67 (C2) and the electric switch that opens the headlight doors stopped working and the price was over $100. ( a lot of money at that time ) . I went to the local junk yard and bought a power window switch from a GM car for $10.00 that looked and worked like the original . All I had to do is make an adapter for the wires so I didn't have to alter the original wiring . There is usually a way to thumb your nose at the greedy vendors.

Try the BMW tax I had a 335 that battery died in, $800 for the battery at the stealership and $400 to install and program it. Found a Euro speed shop that did it for $800. It was the last thing I did before trading it for a Mazda asr my daily driver/airport car.... NEVER AGAIN....
