Cool, another restro modder race theme fan...with a budget we are sympatico there, im not a " hey, watch me toss money at it builder" but find fun making it happen,

Your car looks sweet and lots of coolness built into a 77,

Take a look on Google at race theme cars, see what you really like and dont,
The red paint could serve as a great base for some wrap graphics, stripes, etc, i would come up with something orginal unless you want to clone a certain car,

Mines Bat cave racing, car 13,
But that's all just for fun, im a poser,

I too am running flares, L88 of course for the race look, the best value on them is ebay,
I have an L88 hood which i find overdone but nothing i found i like better, so far, lol

I just couldnt bring myself to run what i find frog eyed fugly the fia racing headlights which do scream race car so i am going with ecklers style recessed, or might just keep the pop ups with electric lifts, i have both,

Wheels play so much in a build
I find the turbine or vector wheels about the best looking old school wheel even on a c3, really stunning, i had them on my modded 66
But they dont have a race look to me, the over used thrusts do, but again i just couldn't do that,

I am running old ansen slots, while they do to me perhaps have a better look on 70s camaros they seemed to be the go to wheel of racers on a budget and are not so over seen on c3s,

I also have things like a show bar, front spoiler, seat interior ideas etc,
If i had a 75 to 82 the chrome bumper conversion would be a must,

My engine is a mild 454 and i have a th400 i would love a old school 4 speed but have to carefully think would a stick actually hurt my fun of driving it as my left foot isnt up to par, and i want tina my wife to drive it too an auto might be better but not as "cool" for me,

I gave that run down of mine so you can see how the build can go many ways you might like some of my ideas or you might hate all of them but it gives you food for thought and ideas for yours,

Please do keep us posted

Thanks for chiming in all. I follow many of your posts.
Bats I have googled to death road race, vintage road race, pro touring and flared C3 cars LOL. I'm glad AllVettes4Me chimed in as your car has the appearance I'd like to do, although tamer ;-). I plan to do a wrap also with a mean satin look and keeping cost down. Wraps look to be getting expensive also. I have a graphic idea to go on the color.
My friends Vette (now mine) has had the Vectors since the 80's and they will serve with fresh roller tires while this car get freshened up. I don't think the brakes I may go with will fit in those 15" wheels... 18's are on my wish list.

So many questions, and so much to read up on. I have Q's in which I may start threads with as they catch more attention.

Finally got this '77 L82 in my possession. When you get a car very cheap from a friend, well, you can expect some wear and tear lol. More than I figured.
What does it need? ...Everything. The rebuilt motor runs good, but... but... butt... Any area needs a redo. Kind of embarrassed but I got what I got.
Yes I rubbed it out. Last registered in Nevada in 95.
See you in a couple of years with a restomod wannabe roadracer. Wish me luck.

I dropped my '77 L-82 off at the shop who is going to refurbish my car. Stoked. Give 'em a considerable amount of time and I will have a sharp road racer wannabe.
I will post pics as progress is made. It will remain small block, and it will also remain an auto car, but with a 4 speed auto and very built.
Thanks to all for ideas and links. Is it fair to say my car will be different?

Been months since any headway has been made with my car. At this point we have collected various parts. Coil over suspension, upgraded brakes, custom hood, Forgelines, BFG tires and a Blueprint engine.
No tear down or re assembly has begun yet. But I do know my LV Nv/socal frame is a prime candidate, as in no rust. It will be welded up for strength.
This is all I got for now... Titanium finish barrel & satin black center.

And how is the 200R4 working out?
Holding up, chirping tires at shifts, and a proper stall converter? That will probably be the transmission I go with.
I bet your engines rips it!

More headway today. Got an engine in a crate.
I am going auto and my builder is recommending a 4L70E transmission. I talk trannies with a selected shop this week.

Well, just about a year in from previous activity here.
I have a welded up frame. Coilovers, Wildwood. Setting up for Vintage air. Doing flares now (4" & 2").
Still a Road race themed car. CIC fiberglass. A long ways out yet. Of course. Time is... time... A shop refurbish, so maybe a finished car next year.

Progress is being made on my '77. A pic is worth a 1000 words and I'm acquiring patience.
Just a teaser.

Thanks Metalhead! As can be seen there is a lot of time going in to this car. The 396 sb is in, mated to the 4L80E trans. Ride height is there.
Got some more body tricks up our sleeve, to be shown upon completion.
The goal is to have glass work done by winter.

Slow progress, but a lot of bodywork has been done. A lot more to go. But you can see the vision. Life goes on without the car...

More progress on my car. Its progressed to this point steadily. The painter has it down, and his paint alway looks *****.
Acquiring interior parts & the body will be on the chassis soon.

Oh, and the chassis...

So... the hope is to be done by winter. Really, it will be done when its done. Not even easy to travel to go pick it up at the moment.
Cheers

Those rear tyres are so close to the frame ! , also the engine looks further back than normal ?

Great looking body , they look like 4 ' flares at the front ?
