I found this old picture of My Grandpa and me in his corvette. It was probably 30 years ago (man that will make you feel old) and I was maybe 10 or 12. Anyway this is probably where my love of Corvettes started. I was wondering if anyone can tell the year of the car from the picture, I think it is somewhere around a 76-79. Thanks for taking this trip down memory lane with me.
I am inclined to agree that it is a 76. 76 was the last year of the "Stingray" emblem and I think 76 was the first year those YJ8 aluminum wheels were offered.

Thanks for all of the info. I knew the wealth of knowledge on this forum would get me to a year. It would be interesting to find out what happened to this car but with no other info accept this pic and knowing that it was taken in Hillsboro Oregon there is probably no way to find anything out. Thanks again.
About 30 years ago I lived Washington and owned a '76 identical to that. Hard to see in the pic, but I put the same red fender and side vent pin stripes on the car. They were more popular back then, so it wasn't uncommon. I sold the car to a fellow from out of state, but I thought he said he was from, or going to Florida. Slim chance, but it could be the same car. If your grandfather is still around, ask him where he bought it.

Unfortunately he and my grandmother passed a number of years ago. He was a step grandpa that my parents didn't care for but was always good to me. On another unfortunate note my parents don't like Corvette's and say I am going to kill myself driving one or two so they have no idea what happened to it. Thanks again for all of the feedback. Drive on and enjoy the ride.
I remember being about that age living with my grandparents. A neighbor two houses down the block was part of a Corvette club and every July 4th the whole street would be lined with them. My role was to be the annoying kid putting his booger fingers on cars I probably shouldn't have been touching.
I'd bet that you can still remember how that car smelled and how the wind felt on the day that photo was taken. Those are events that stay in your mind, forever. Cool photo to have.
