Also, since the valve covers are aluminum the crack might not be visible, they would have to be magnafluxed to be certain. Also note, that the strip is in the weakest part of the cover. In the early 70's when neoprene gaskets came out they did not have a tendency to seal evenly so people had a a tendency to really over torque the bolts. This caused the cover to bow in the weakest spot and cause a bulge crack.
Interesting, I'll give them a good look when they come back next week
FYI The crack might not go all the way through, it might only be on the outside where the strip or patch is and used as a stiffener. In the late 60's and early 70's this was very prevalent when people started replacing their bent steal covers with M/T aluminum covers. M/T started recommending only use cork gaskets. Fel-Pro did change their compounding later on.
Bret, I hope you'll find a way to find the strip origin. I've just discovered also something that is not properly identified by the 6th Edition of Judging Manual NCRS.
It's the last letter of my transmission. All figures are totally clear (included the VIN number matching to my car) EXCEPT the last letter K. I've zoomed the number to make it more readable in the red box.
Does anyone knows a judge or this matter enough to make an explication of the last K letter ?
Mica - Try moving your question up one level out of the LT-1 thread. It is interesting that there is no documentation online that supports the use of the letter "K".
@Dirty Dalton Magnifique voiture de mon ami Alex ! I'll prompt him to give you news
By the way any competent people or qualified judge on the transmission stamp ?
"Magnificent car of my friend Alex." How'd I do?
Re your question - No idea. Following Portland, you might try asking in the 'Wilcox' thread. Ernie is very helpful, and he might well know. I see you have the 6th edition of the NCRS book. I don't know if that's the latest edition. You might consider asking at the NCRS forum (NCRS.org). Bon chance!

Your French is as good as mine Dalton ! Your translation is correct.
You've got an A, and I thank you for your advice concerning my "K"
Though "chance" in french is a feminine word, therefore we say "bonne chance". We'd translate "he's a good boy" by "c'est un bon graçon" and "she's a good gril" by "c'est une bonne fille"
Hi !
I don't actually enjoy much my vette since I received it... I passed more time to restore it rather driving it...
And I have a lot of stuff to make if I want to have a safe car. So I have no photos of myself with the LT-1 !
The next week on Wednesday, I'm going to a car show to introduce my vette. Hope it will have some success.

If you "don't actually enjoy much my vette" you could always ship it back to me. I promise I'll enjoy it! I've shared photos of mine in various states of undress. No shame; you can do this. Tout suite!
Massachusetts gas station. Whew, still under $3/gallon.
Stuart, what's the news on those rocker covers?
I can only dream of gas prices that low Ed..
My go to man for chrome and polishing is semi retired so he takes a bit longer but his costs are much lower so it takes as long as it takes. I dropped off the rear bumpers, front bumpers, exhaust tips, ignition shields, valve covers and all the fixing hardware and said how long. My heart sank when he said give me a month as I want to get this car out this Summer if possible. I know the valve covers are polished aluminium but nothing I have gets in the finned area so he's doing them as well. I've pulled the interior apart and getting that ship-shape. Found a date correct carb, date correct smog system, idle solenoid so once they arrive from your side of the pond the mechanicals can start.
