Weather was perfect today in southern Texas and I had a chance to take a trip out to Leakey, TX to drive the LT-1 on at least one of the infamous Three Sisters (I rode 337.) It was a lot of fun - wish I could have rode the other two sisters . Here's a pic when we stopped at the Texas version of Stonehenge.

I hear ya! Just pulled the carb found this..varnish?
.
Splooge. Drain your tank and clean it, flush your fuel system out, clean the carb, fill with fresh fuel (non ethanol if you can find it), and drive your car more often. I hate splooge.
Love this thread. I hope to be able to post pics of my own LT-1 some day. Had two great options recently to purchase but the owner’s decided at the end to not sell. Yes, I am still looking for that special documented LT-1...
Some details... I found a date on the bottom of the hood... 6 / 18 / 71
ALSO besides differing in width pretty drastically... my hood stripe is cocked a little bit, the points on one side are 3-7/8 from the rear of the hood and the other is 4-1/8" from the rear of the hood.

Patience is a virtue!
They are out there, my '71 red LT-1 I bought out of New York and has a partial tank sticker, window sticker, protecto plate, hand book, trim removal instructions, keys complete with the knock outs and original dealer give-aways - envelopes, pens, key rings, T shirt, delivery letter and an Al Grenning block authentication letter.
My '71 LT1 recently took top flight a the Lake Tahoe egional but I still need some help. The alarm horn is now non-functional, my Firestone Wide O Oval had only 7 ribs and my1100950 Alternator was made 4 months after my body build date???
That stripe does look like a Friday afternoon job if original! Rest looks great and all there just needs a little Winter cleaning
Ronnie Hunt was the man who did, allegedly, nearly all the LT-1 stripes. I forget where I picked up that bit of trivia, and you are welcome to question the veracity of that claim. Whether he worked on Friday afternoons was not disclosed..

@firstgenaddict Your zoomed pictures are very interesting. The Vehicule Certification Label" aka "Blue Label" on the driver's door, seems to be an original one, and it is in a very good condition !
Funny thing, your VIN is very close to mine. My ending numbers are 121735.
Now I have a tech question for the LT-1 owner's community. If some of you have replaced the spark plugs, what was your preference NGK, AC,... and what is the exact ref as in some of my books I read the R43TS and in some others R44TS, with the same 0.035" gap. What would be the best for our engine ?
Also if you have changed your spark plugs wires, what was your choice. I'm not aming at any NCRS meeting so I'm interested in reliablity and efficiency.
And as some of you knows it, I'm in france and I'd like to know if there are specific tools to purchase before doing this maintenance ?

I recently pulled the 71 LT-1 Corvette I have off the market until things firm up a little. With all of the extra time it seems I have on my hands, I decided to dive into the car some more. I am going to further document, clean, and remove some of the fluffing the car has received through the years. The first item in order, was to pull the tank and grab the tank sticker.
I also took the time to clean the fluff off of the original rear shocks

With all my anticipated thanks.

Hi Mica !
How are you ?
So have you received any answer about your spark plug questions ? I bought NGK ones (Rockauto). I will install them when I'll replace my exhaust to match the original exhaust line. Would be interested also to replace my spark plug wire !
If there is any doubt about Rockwell providing body panels for GM take a look at the label in the picture. It is also date coded for 1971. Very nice Survivor car.
