LT-1 Owners Thread

It's poorly at the moment and is going in for work next week. I got caught in a flood in January and unbeknown to me the overflow tube from the gas cap recess was plugged so water got in the tank and I'm not sure I got it all out and last Summer it wiped a lobe on E3. I managed to secure a new OEM cam and lifters so hopefully it'll be right for when the lockdown finally ends !
But I'm sure that gifted and well documented as you are, it'll be a piece of cake for you

All my best though

Walter, first owner.
@firstgenaddict Your zoomed pictures are very interesting. The Vehicule Certification Label" aka "Blue Label" on the driver's door, seems to be an original one, and it is in a very good condition !
Funny thing, your VIN is very close to mine. My ending numbers are 121735.
Now I have a tech question for the LT-1 owner's community. If some of you have replaced the spark plugs, what was your preference NGK, AC,... and what is the exact ref as in some of my books I read the R43TS and in some others R44TS, with the same 0.035" gap. What would be the best for our engine ?
Also if you have changed your spark plugs wires, what was your choice. I'm not aming at any NCRS meeting so I'm interested in reliablity and efficiency.
And as some of you knows it, I'm in france and I'd like to know if there are specific tools to purchase before doing this maintenance ?
With all my anticipated thanks.
Micha
This is a photo of the headlamp bar the day the car was delivered... look how rough the paint looks, it's there but it is dehydrated, these photos were take with the same camera.
21783 71 LT1 Sept 2018. on arrival from Ohio.
21783 71 LT1 First Quarter 2019. clay barred then multiple applications of meguires number 7 by foam applicator wait overnight and polish off - repeat - and again finished with hand application of meguires black wax with foam pad, polished off with a cotton diaper with the hems cut off, most thread will scratch paint, I cut the hemmed edges off all my polishing cloths the moment I get them out.
.
Micha, I'm pretty sure that your car, my car and Brit Vett's were all built on the last day - mine 21783 is the last known 1971 LT1 built and is 18 from the end - there is a LT1 roadster built 18 prior to my car (21865) - Britt's is 802 I believe.
I run the R43TS, with the caveat that I run nothing except 100% Sunoco 110 race @ $10/gallon or 100LL aviation fuel. @ $4.72 a gallon - prior to switching to real fuel I ran 44's and they appeared slightly fouled -
No special tools really other than a 5/8 spark plug socket.
My car runs so much better after switching fuels it will idle for ever at 750 RPM's without loading up.
What can you get for fuel in France?
BRIT - you are a better man than me, if I had to get into mine it would get a solid roller in a heart beat -

The long time owner was a vice officer in Cinci in the mid 70's and did undercover drug buys in the LT1.-21783, how great a story is that?

Yellow 230
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

A phenolic fuel bowl filler. Originally the fuel bowls in 71 and 72 LT1's had these in them to displace volume so there was less fuel to evaporate, thereby reducing emissions, like I said I will probably never put it in, however it was only $9.99 on ebay and should be with the car.
Also picked up NOS single crimp brake hoses and NOS latex door weatherstrips for my spare parts.
1971 LT1 - # 11130 - built March 2 - 1971 - NO RADIO, Power Steering , Power Brakes, Tilt-tele, Leather, Rear Defog, White letter tires, M21, 3.70, Special Paint -
Yes, it is a real LT1 and it yes it was painted BLACK at the factory.
Special Paint charge was $83.00

has to be one of the rarest 1971 LT-1 ever made
Regards
Roy
... you want to talk about rare though, imagine what I was thinking when I opened the pass door and saw the radio block off plate...
I had to immediately look at the deck...GOOD... then checked the engine code... lol C....... G..... .Z, just a lowly old matching numbers LT1.

The original engine with original heads head gaskets etc appears to have never been out, the front freeze plugs appear to be originals, radiator recored and didn't use the original rails, the smog pump is a late 70's replacement, everything else is original and dated for the car.
I have TONS of EARLY NOS stuff I had collected if I were to ever paint my own car, or god forbid it were to get hit. NOS Latex door, T-top, A pillar - long type, and rear side glass weatherstripping, NOS Early door handles with frost chrome inside, NOS early exhaust bezels, with the hazy chrome in the center, NOS single crimp brake hoses, NOS single crimp power steering hoses (4), NOS ball joints, NOS tie-rods, NOS brake pads, NOS plug wires, low mile early take off hoses and headlamp valves, NOS emblems.
There are 2 crazed areas, (center of hood, and drivers rear sail panel) From what I can determine and based upon the letters re: putting it out on a BID basis, the plant would not give a time frame and apparently never quoted a price until the car was in the schedule. - end of january. because of the body quality I believe they used more lacquer surfacer on the black cars, the thicker would eventually dry and shrink, causing crazing.
a couple of minor cracks in front wheel lips from running 9" wide cragars. I am going to go ahead and pull the headlamp support from the bottom and keep the majority of the minor rivet bumps showing for 10 or so rivets, they are hard to photograph, but I am going to fix them from the bottom and save the paint and original fiberglass there.
I will be able to save the majority of the paint.
probably blow in the
