It should be. I'm doing the block and accessory drive in gold, to match the gold on the outside of the car.

I was toying with the idea of using a 1970 Pontiac 455 I have on a stand. It's looking for a car to go in.

I had a 69 GTO with a 455 that was 60 over in it with a slightly beefy cam.....first gear was useless, all it did was spin...my Dad said to just take off in second...lol that worked pretty good....you should find an MG or an old 280Z to stuff it in just for fun.

Actually a 60s Bonneville would be cool

I have a Trans Am I might put it in. It'll be getting aluminum heads, a roller cam, ported Edelbrock P4B intake, all the usual power making stuff. Should be right around 550hp 570tq when I'm done with it.

So kinda an update, but not entirely. I've been super busy with other stuff, but I've finally got off my *** and ordered all I need to smooth the firewall out, ordered the paint for the engine and trans, and have started piecing together the parts I'll need to build the sidepipes.

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about the poor car lol

Camshaft arrived. Still waiting on springs.

Also still waiting on my metal flake for the intercoat on the block and misc engine pieces. After that is getting the candy treatment...

Laid down 3 coats of silver metal flake. She's glistening and gleaming now! My phone kinda struggles to show how much flake there really is.

Up next, candy!

Got the gold candy laid down, along with 3 coats of clear. Pics don't do it justice. It looks like a gold nugget!

Camshaft and springs going in today. It's a Trick Flow 228/230 .585 112lsa with Pac 1218 springs, along with a sheet metal high rise intake and a Mark Williams 102mm throttle body.

I ran a similar setup on a 6.0 and it made 373hp to the wheels. This having a half point more compression, and better cylinder heads it should make decent power for what it is.

Also ordered my torque converter. Should stall between 3500-3800 in this combo.

Well I couldn't help myself. I mocked up the engine to see what it looks like. I must say I'm very happy with how it's turning out!

It was fun painting it. Any time I get to play with candy paint, I'm very happy! lol

I picked up a polished oil pan for it, to tie in with the polished intake. I'm thinking about painting the accessory drive black. Originally I was thinking candy red, but after seeing the engine done, I don't want to take away from the gold. Plus, the shaved firewall is going to be red.

Next up is getting back on the bodywork. Finalizing the tilt hood assembly, and shaving the firewall.

Is the red on the shaved firewall the same as the exterior?

Yessir. Silver base coat, multiple coats of .025 metal flake followed by candy red and a whole lot of clear coat
