All the best stuff happens by accident! I believe the whole story behind this car! (in the movie anyway.)

Thanks! Just kinda building things as I go, and so far everything is turning out great. I'm hoping to get the drivetrain in it soon.

I'm sure its just the light, but why does it look more maroon than the candy apple red flake I remember?

Yeah, when they restored and modified it in Australia, they repainted it a darker color and added gold accents to the running boards and headlight bezels, along with adding a starburst-shaped grill attached to the reworked lower front spoiler. The flames are differently shaped from the originals as well. At least they did a proper right hand drive conversion at the time.

I don't understand why they modified the front end on the Australian car. It looks funny to me.

Mine will have functional side pipes. They'll be hand made to replicate the movie setup.

Yeah, the side pipes on the Australian car may be illegal, for all I know, especially since they looked like these when they pulled them out of the wrecked car:

I also am not a fan of its modified front spoiler area, but perhaps they were put off by the large open-mouth look, especially since it did not have the other car's spoiler area with the black side panels inside the opening.

I've been slacking on the Vette, and busy with other cars and just life in general, but here's how it currently sits.

I'm at the point now where I need to mount the hood hinge setup permanently. I have a few ideas for it, but haven't settled on one yet.

The Ecklers setup on mine is so simple, it has a 1/2” conduit that stands it off the frame rails, then has rod ends inserted in the ends that bolt through a couple of angle plates the bolt to the frame horns.

It’s so 70’s uncomplicated and simple and works perfectly. The conduit is glassed into the underside of the hood. I have adapted hydraulic rams to the conduit to open and close it.

Excuse the dust

There is a spreader bar from one side to the other.

Got the turn signals going in. Pretty soon it'll have all the front lights in it.

Making progress. Starting to mock up the front lights and getting ready to cut them in.

I’ll take that five window off your hands so you have more time to work on the Corvette Summer car.
