Having issue with installing latch on my ‘73 conversion to removable window. Guide pins went in great. Having problem with latches. Cut out in fiberglass to small for latch to fit. Could I have wrong latches? Latches I bought here, had a metal backing plate with nuts attached and 4 rivet holes to secure. No holes in fiber glass to help locate positioning.
1. Should I cut fiberglass to allow fit? 2. What about positioning?
Thanks in advance for any help
Hi Rob,
I did this conversion on a 1975. It should be the same.
The only cutting I needed to do was on the interior halo trim pieces. It was very straight forward, with absolutely no fiberglass cutting necessary. I'm not sure what piece you're trying to fit. Maybe you could post a picture -- that would allow the epert panel on here to see if you're working with the right pieces.
The only other difficulty was getting the new weatherstripping to compress initially enough to close the clamp. Over time it does compress and it becomes easier to shut. Good luck.
