Windshield Dam Material
It took a little while to find the linen material. The dam material was less difficult, although a bit of a twist on that one. I found it going back through old posts on this site, but what was recommended was a dam with adhesive on one side only (which would play well into how the factory/James did it). I’ve always applied the windshield adhesive to the windshield frame side first, so I thought that a double sided adhesive would work better (one side for the windshield frame, one side for the linen material). As it turned out, the type with adhesive on one side is no longer offered (although I can still get it if I had to) so that more or less made my decision for me. Should work just fine even if it is backward from the way it was originally done.
It is possible that the linen may tend to bunch, but I think that I can control that… Plus, it will be in the corners underneath the tinted area of the windshield so I doubt that you’ll see anything.
Good questions!

The windshield sealer became an issue for me when I cracked my windshield getting it out. ( Thanksgiving Day 1995)
From then on (and to this day) it was/is the first thing I look at when I approach a car.
